ANYTHING ELSE:
Nyssa’s been a tom boy from a young age, and that shows through greatly in her. She has always shown a interest in guys, though not a romantic one, all the way anyway. She always felt more comfortable around guys, never really understanding most girls who would rather play with dolls and trying on their mother’s makeup then building things and playing in the dirt. She was close to her siblings for this reason, both her mortal ones and her half-blood siblings. She’s never really been fazed with being one of the only girls in the Hephaestus cabin, or even the only one. She has never been into dolls, or makeup, or perfume. Perfume makes her want to gag, most of the time anyway. She also can’t stand stereotypes, especially those pertaining to females. Nyssa feels she has worked hard to get the respect of her siblings, and she likes feeling respected, even being on the same level as guys, as she sees it should be with everyone. She isn’t afraid to hit someone to prove a point.
When it comes to love with Nyssa, good luck. Nyssa believes in being your own person and being independent, and doesn’t really like the idea of relying on someone else; plus, she has a feeling that most men don’t respect women, and or see them as their equals. From these feelings, she hands on several occasions almost joined the hunters. Though, a big fault of her personality, and in fact her fatal flaw, indecisiveness, causes this decision, and every decision to come extremely hard to Nyssa. Another fault in her personality is her anger. She is generally a calm person, but do something that she deems even slightly offense, and she will go off on you. She understands a joke here and there, but she is extremely defensive and a major hot head.

HISTORY:
Melinda Carter was a young graduate from college, having earned her bachelor’s degree in engineering. She had been hired by a company in Detroit for an automotive engineering position after graduating college, so she packed up her things and moved there. One day, after finishing up late at the company, she went to leave. On her way to her car, she saw someone out of the corner of her eye; ignoring it she went to her car and tried to get it to start up, which the car refused to do. As she looked under the hood, examining the car a man came up from behind her and offered to help her, which was when she first met Hephaestus. He quickly got her car running, and Melinda, in gratitude, offered to take him out to get something from a nearby dinner. Over that meal, the two started a relationship. It started as a friendship which quickly progressed into a romantic relationship over the period of a month. Only two months after the two started their relationship, Melinda found out she was expecting. She kept her pregnancy a secret from him for a few weeks as she tried to figure out what she wanted to do in this situation she found herself in. Six weeks into her pregnancy she told Hephaestus that she was pregnant. With this, Hephaestus revealed his true identity to Melinda, and told her that whenever the child was old enough, it would have to go to a special camp, and with that, he was out of her life.
Nyssa Matthew Carter was born on December 15 in a small hospital on the outskirts of Detroit. For years later her mother would tell her that was the best day of her live. Nyssa spent the first few months of her life in Detroit, before her mother transferred to a job in Texas so she could be home more often to watch Nyssa. Nyssa throughout her toddler years showed a more creative and building sort of personality as a child. She would test different things, trying to assemble things, and come up with ideas on crazy inventions that could never possibly exist. The one doll her mother ever bought young Nyssa ended up decapitated, with its head and body buried in the backyard. Needless to say, Nyssa never Her mother worked her way slowly up the ladder at the engineering company she worked at. Whenever Nyssa was three she asked about her father, and with this Melinda Carter started to begin dating once more, leaving her daughter without any answers. Whenever Nyssa was five, her mother met Tyler Peterman, a fellow engineer who had a seven year old son named Ethan, a six year old named Kellan, and a five and a half year old son named Michael . Melinda and Tyler got married after six months of dating.
Nyssa’s unease at her home was thought to have caused her problems in school during her first few years before they diagnosed her with ADHD and Dyslexia just shy of her seventh birthday. From that point on her mother and stepfather tried to hire tutors for her, but she denied the help, deciding to suffer in silence then need more help than her stepbrother did in school. By the time her half-brothers Seth and Cole were born whenever Nyssa was ten, she felt that her stepbrothers and stepdad were her biological family. The family was overrun with boys, but Nyssa liked it. She was a tom boy through and through. She loved arm wrestling with Ethan , Michael, Kellan, and she enjoyed playing hide and go seek with the twins. Nyssa, whenever her brothers began playing football, wanted to play as well. After convincing her mother and stepfather to let her play she joined the same team as her brothers Michael and Kellan were on.
Whenever Nyssa was eleven, the family was on their way home from a football game in which Nyssa, Kellan, and Michael had played in whenever a drunk driver plowed into the right side of the car. This accident claimed the life of her mother, who was killed on impact. Nyssa took this particularly hard, as did all of her siblings and her stepfather. She became the mother figure over the twins who were only one at the time. Her stepfather legally adopted Nyssa so he could have custody of her. Nyssa buried herself in her school work, sports, and watching over her brothers, older and younger, to try and forget that her mother was gone. But the only time she did forget was whenever she was drawing things she hoped to build someday. It came natural to her from her mother’s side, but she didn’t know it also came from her father’s side as well. Her stepfather during this time, while grieving for his dead wife, went on a search for a new wife, and a mother for the twins. He quickly found this in a journalist by the name of Sandy Tatum. Eleven months after the death of Nyssa’s mother, her stepfather married Sandy Tatum.
This infuriated Nyssa, and it broke her heart to see her younger brother's call Sandy 'mom’. After a fight with her stepfather and stepmother she stormed out of the house and ran away from her home. She didn't have a place in mind, but she ran until she couldn't run anymore, and found a spot in an alley and sat and cried. Later in the evening that night a monster attacked her in the dark. A hellhound attacked her whenever she was sleeping. Nyssa woke up just in time to move out of the way of the hellhound as it tried to attack her. Once again, she ran and ran, she cried out for help but in the middle of the night most of the people were asleep. Though she managed to climb up a fire escape to a top of a building, frightened, and barely escaping the creature. She was scratched, bruised, and frightened from the attack, and stayed up there till the next morning. Whenever morning came, she made her way back to her home, where she was met by her frightened stepparents, brothers, and a stranger. This stranger, a satyr, had saw Nyssa the night before, running for her life, and had heard a call about a runaway, and had come to see if Nyssa, and the missing girl were the same person, which they were. After asking a series of questions to Nyssa he came to his conclusion, she was a demigod. The satyr explained to her stepfather that Nyssa had to spend some time at a camp, not going into any detail, only giving Nyssa time to say goodbye to her family, and grab a bag of clothes before taking her to Camp Halfblood.
Whenever she arrived at camp, she was completely confused. She slowly came to accept the fact that her father was a god. She stayed in the Hermes cabin for her first two months at camp. Right before the Winter Solstice, while walking around camp, she stopped for a minute, coincidently in front of the armory, and at that moment she was claimed by Hephaestus. She saw one of the children of Hephaestus leave the armory, seeing the symbol above her head, quickly walked her to Chiron. Whenever they arrived, Chiron explained to her that she was a daughter of Hephaestus. She was happy to be claimed, though surprised to find that she was one of the only daughters of Hephaestus, if not the only at camp Halfblood. She moved her few things into the Hephaestus cabin, and slowly found her footing. She was used to having all brothers, but getting used to living in the Hephaestus cabin, in one room with mostly brothers was a different story. She felt the need to keep her clothing and things locked away, and carefully cleaned up. Though when it came to her bed and things of that nature, the only time she ever kept up with it was whenever she needed to. She entered the armory and felt she had something to prove. Her first days in the armory were her worst, whenever she would make major mistakes, making her creations ruined pieces of metal. But once she caught on, she slowly moved up the ranks like her brothers.
That winter she visited her stepfather and her mortal brothers. She was immediately questioned by her brothers and stepfather about where she had been, and she forced herself to lie. She gave her siblings and stepparents a few metal trinkets she had made in her time at the camp. She stayed with her family only three days, leaving for camp early Christmas’ morning, leaving the trinkets wrapped under the tree. After returning to camp, she decided she would be a year round camper, knowing it would be safer for her brothers and her stepparents. So except for the occasional letter, picture, or visit, Nyssa was mostly cut off from the outside world. She kept tabs on her brother watching over their improvements and stopping by occasionally seeing them. She missed them a lot though she put their safety above her own, and she knew she would never be able to see them get hurt because of her. Through the years she was generally accepted by her brothers and learned about the Hephaestus cabins, moving her way up the ranks.
Whenever the hunters came to camp, Nyssa considered, if only briefly of becoming a huntress. This decision was one of the hardest she had while she was at camp, though she decided against it, staying at camp. Every now and again she wonders if she should have joined the hunters, or even if she should. Though she never truelly came to a decision.
When a new camper and half-brother Leo Valdez showed up at camp Nyssa showed him around the armory. She explained to him how the entire cabin began to think that there was a curse on the cabin, ever since their former cabin leader Charles Beckendorf died. For a short amount of time, she was in charge of the cabin, whenever her half-brother and cabin leader, Jake Mason, was injured. She was happy for Leo whenever he received the title of cabin leader. She was actively involved with helping Leo build Argo 2, and supported him silently all the way through the building process of it.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:
Chloe woke up early in the morning. Usually, she would still be up at this time, or even just finding her way to her room to sleep, but today she had a plan, and she needed her sleep. She smiled lightly, rubbing her eyes looking at her clock, which blinked back a bright red six. She grinned, she was on time, but she only had fifteen minutes before she had to go, so she knew she would need to hurry if she evr intended on making it on time, and past her dads and her mom. She quickly got out of her bed and got up, deciding to get dressed first.
Chloe, wearing her pajamas, her blonde curled hair covering her face, found her way to the closet. She quickly found herself too short to reach her shirts so she looked around for something to climb, so way to get to them. She looked at her dresser placed directly beside the closet, and a mischievous looked crossed her red eyes. She didn’t notice as her eyes had changed from their normal brown to this bright red, she hardly ever noticed this, and she certainly wasn’t paying attention to it at this moment. She pulled out the drawers to her dresser, making herself steps to climb up.
She carefully climbed on top of the edge of the bottom drawer, before stepping up to the next one, and the next. She took one more step, finding herself on top of the dresser top. She smiled widely at her accomplishment; of course, she didn’t know that she was special. As far as the young girl knew, she was nothing more than a human little girl, her mother ensured her of that. She edged slowly toward the edge of the dresser, reaching across to grab a tee-shirt.
She finally got one in her grasp, but as she did she found herself unsteady, reaching for the rod holding up her clothing for support before her feet fell of the dresser completely. Too her surprise she didn’t come crashing down, but held tight to the clothing rod. Chloe let out a surprised “Wow…” as she opened her eyes to find herself hanging in the air. She slowly made her way down the bar, letting herself fall on a pile of clothes that had fallen to the bottom of her closet; with a quick thud she found herself back on the floor.
Chloe walked out from her closet, peeling off the shirt that had went with her pajamas and putting on the one that she had retrieved from her closet. She looked down at the tee-shirt, which was her favorite. On the black shirt if featured a chocolate cookie on it with a bite taken out from it. It never failed to please the young girl.
She ran out of her room after slipping on a pair of jeans. She made her way to the kitchen, quickly opening the fridge. She looked around, knowing she would need all the energy she could get. She decided a glass of milk would be a good start. Her dads always told her mother to drink more of the stuff, so it had to be good. She stood on the inside of the fridge, reaching up and grasping the almost full jug and lifted it shakily from the shelf. She barely made her way to the table before the jug fell from her grasp. She ran back over, grabbing a glass, and shutting the door before coming back over to the table. She made her way on to her chair, standing so she could pour her milk. She grabbed the milks lid, taking it off and tilting the jug so it would pour into her glass. Of course, it spilled. Soon she had a glass full of milk, and a big mess also. She capped up the milk, quickly running over, getting some paper towels to clean up her mess before her parents got up. She hadn’t told her mom or her dads about this adventure she had planned, she hadn’t told anyone at all. She sloppily cleaned up her mess, throwing the wet napkins in the trash.
Chloe walked over to the big glass of milk she had poured, taking a few drinks before deciding she was finished. Forgetting to put the milk away, or even clear her space she ran to her room once more, moving a few of her toys to show her own personal cookie stash. A grin crossed her face as she grabbed a couple of them, shoving them in her pockets, before eating one. She quickly rearranged her toys in the early morning hours.
As she left the room for the second time she saw the time left on her clock, she only had three minutes left! She quickly ran down the hall, reaching for her jacket, though she found it nearly impossible to do because of her height. She let out an agitated sigh, before jumping, finally knocking her coat down. She slipped it on quickly, buttoning only one button before moving on to her next task, which was getting her hat. She had hid it in the kitchen, in a cupboard. She knew even Eon wouldn’t find it. She grabbed the hat, which was a purple striped beanie. She slipped it on her head, before walking out of the house, depositing her hands in the unfilled pockets of her jacket as she left, shutting the door with her foot with a swift kick. The door let out a slight groan and a cracking noise, though Chloe didn’t truly see anything wrong with it, they had gone through quite a few doors at her house, and they would surely go through plenty more.
She made her way in her boots to the spot in the woods where only yesterday she and Jeribel had come up with the plan to go on an adventure. How could she turn that down?! She grinned looking into the trees and then at the ground, which was covered in freshly fallen leaves. She laughed lightly at the cound they made under her steps. After a few moments she said “Jeribel? Jeribel?”. Where could he be?
