Bring it All Back -- S Club 7Aimee Covington had always been a water baby. Borned and raised in Dorchester, Aimee had never needed much, but when she grew up to go to university, it was inevidable that she chose marine biology as her major. Even as a child, Aimee's parents could see how much she loved the water. So marine biology was the natural choice, but it was from there that everything went downhill. Aimee graduated with first grade honors, but when she started working at the towns marine aquarium research center, Aimee started being really distant to her parents. They suspected that it was a boy, but it wasn't till 6 months down the road, did their suspicions get confirmed.
Aimee came back pregnant, and the boy was nowhere to be seen. Devastated by his desertion, Aimee went in to a state of depression, and eventually died in childbirth, and it was her parents, Lynette's grandparents who eventually got custody of her. The little girl with bruenette hair so like her mother. But it was the hazel green eyes the girl posesses, that confused her grandparents, making them suspect that whoever her father was, probably gave her the pair of sea-like olive eyes.
Lynette gave her grandparents little trouble. Netta they called her, the apple of their eyes for she was such a happy baby. She was easily taught, and easily pleased. But when she turned five, their fears arose. Because Netta was exactly like her mother, in that the girl couldn't get enough of water. She loved bathtimes, and when she was five and accidentally fell in to the baby pool, the old couple was surprised at how the baby instinctively knew how to swim. Such a water baby she was, that she eventually moved to a seaside house with her parents when she was seven, and went to the sea almost everyday. Her grandparents feared her turning out like her mother, so eventually they decided to start her school early.
Make it Shine - Victorious
It was in school though, that her grandparents discovered further faults with Lynette. Because try as she may, the young girl just could not discern the words on the board, nor could she seem to concentrate for long periods of time. In an effort to try and work off the diagnosed ADHD, her grandparents enrolled her in dance class, and although Lynette loved the gracefulness and ease of movement she learned there, nothing seemed to be able to solve the way words and letters swim and jumble in front of her whenever she tried to read something.[/blockquote]
At a loss as Lynette failed to increase in grades, her grandparents ended up enrolling her in a special abilities school in Boston, and there, Lynette sort of... lost it. The girl had always been happy-go-lucky, and took life as life came to her, but there because of her elder age and her ADHD, Lynette was constantly taunted and teased. She lost her temper once, but when she did a rumble seem to roll across the ground, scaring the school and her classmates, and ever since then Lynette has always tried to rein in her temper, and instead just ended up secluding herself. Because of that, the girl is now rather shy to meet new people, and a bit cautious of strangers. She's still very friendly and jubilant in life, but you're going to actually have to get to know her first before you see the more joyful side of Netta.
There's a Place for Us -- Carrie Underwood
It was when she was twelve though, did her life literally get turned on its axis. On holiday from school, it was one f the times when Lynette was at the sea again, swimming just for the heck of it. The water always calmed her, and it was as if the girl never wanted to get out of her happy place... but that day, as she was minding her own business, when a tentacle wrapped itself arund her legs.[/blockquote]
Now normally, any tentacle wrapping themselves around your legs would freak you out, no? Now, imagine what happened when Lynette ducked underwater and found herself not trapped by an octopus or jellyfish as she thought, but by huge, one eyed monster she would later learn was called the Kraken. Lynette freaked, and if you asked her now she would not remember, but what she did remember was somehow getting a huge whirlpool to separate her from the Kraken, and later on getting pulled out of the water by a man she swore was half goat, yet her grandparents seemed unfazed by him when she eventually got back.
After changing and some hot chocolate, the satyr who somehow managed to earn her grandparents trust, and eventually dug out her life story. What did surprise Lynette though, was when he suddenly announced that she needed to go to camp, and that was when the truth finally came out, and Lynette finally found out who her father was, Her grandparents was surprised tof ind out that their daughter had actually been with the god of the sea, and of the existence of gods at all actually, but since it was for the safety of their only grandchild, they reluctantly agreed and Lynette soon found hersel whisked away to Camp Half-Blood, where it took her a long while to get suited to life again.
Forever Begins Tonight -- Patrizio Buanne
it was at the camp, where Lynette made friends, learned of her father and her... 'relatives', and all in all learned how to guard herself from monsters whos eemed abundant in the demigod lives. Unlike the rest of the campers, Lynette had a dinstintively different fighting style. Incorporating her flair for movement and water in her fighting, Netta was fluid and graceful and more agile then powerful. What she lacks in power and strength however, the girl makes up for in speed and agility, and it was akin to watching a dance whenever you practiced with her. With stamina and agility, you could hurt Lynette easily if you caught her, but the trick is in catching her first, zeus help you if you happened to fight with her while she was near any body of water. It was also at the camp, did she finally realize why was she always and had always been such a water baby, and was happy when she found out her dyslyexia was not just because she was dumb.[/blockquote]
Honing the powers which seemed to come to her with her father, Netta learned to rein in her hydrokinesis so she won't drown the camp, and was overjoyed to discover that she could telepathically communicate with sea animals and equines, something she has only dreamed of her whole life. Netta had always been fascinated by the marine life, and this only managed to enhance her love of the ocean. The ability to breathe underwater now merely extended the amount of time she spent in the sea, as if how much time she spent there wasn't enough already. and more then once netta had been called a veritable mermaid, the way she frolicked in the waves.
What surprised her, was the other powers that came along with it. She never realized a child of poseidon could summon storms, until that one day when she was fending the camp from a pack of hellhounds that came baying, and netta had been driven to desperation when a huge hurricane suddenly descended. Of course, along with destroying the hellhounds, it also ended up messing up camp half-blood, a mess that took them days to clean, but after that netta began to learn to control not only that, but the geo and cryokinesis that came along with it as well.
Twinkle Twinkle -- Girl's Generation
Not being around when Percy arrived at Camp Half Blood, Netta had only arrived two years after the lightning thief events had passed, and by then it was fully believed that percy would be the one in the prophecy. Nevertheless, Poseidon still claimed her as his daughter, it wasn't till after the battle of the olympians was over however, did Poseidon finally grant Netta a weapon of her own. It was as if her father wished her to not fight, if only for her own protection, but netta did exceedingly well in the battle.[/blockquote]
So during one of the capture the flag events in the two months of peace, it was entirely surprising to Lynette when she found a rough, chain necklace on the side of her bed. But what surprised her more, was how when she took the necklace off her neck, the jewelry transformed in to a five feet long chain whip, heavy to her hand and very damage inducing, perfect for Netta's ranged battling style. She treasures the gift from her father dearly, and never takes off the necklace.
