ANYTHING ELSE:
Right off the bat, one typically notices the fact that Lane is a massive flirt. Whenever she finds her gaze settling on a guy that passes her admittedly low standards, Lane will flirt with him. Of course, actually pursuing a guy is a completely different story. Lane views flirting as a game. Actively pursuing someone is something that Lane considers to be completely different. She will only pursue a guy that can pass the 'much higher' standards that Lane has set for someone that she's truly interested in. Of course, these much higher standards are mostly just not being interested in her. She likes a good challenge sometimes. Okay, a lot of the time. It takes a special kind of person to keep Lane's attention for more than a few minutes or so, and if as a general rule, if a guy wants to keep Lane's attention, he shouldn't flirt with her.
She's distinctly manipulative. Lane plays with her food before eating it, much like a cat does. Lane likes to see how others react to her, whether she's flirting with them or simply tormenting them. She'll insult others, make fun of them, flirt with them or whatever Lane feels like doing, really. Life in general is pretty much a game for Lane, a game in which she likes to see how others react to her. To go along with this, Lane is most definitely not subtle. She's extremely obvious in her every action. Most of that is affected - she is capable of being subtle. Lane simply thinks it's more fun to be obvious in her actions as she goes about life.
Mostly quite the happy young woman, it takes a lot to get Lane down. It takes even more to get her to actually show her emotions. Lane is quite self-sufficient and extremely confident in herself. Mostly, she's confident in her ability to get males and in the fact that Lane is beautiful. Or at least good-looking. Her self-confidence was once said to be the most beautiful thing about her and Lane is extremely aware of that.

HISTORY:
Jason Azor was a single young man that, for some reason, Venus herself took an interest in him. It didn't take the goddess of love long for her to seduce him, and shortly after that, Jason found himself with a squalling baby on his doorstep. That baby was christened Elaine Isabelle Azor, and Jason moved on with life. He still looked back fondly upon the charming woman that had seduced him and left Lane on his doorstep, but Jason didn't let her dominate his life. He tucked her away into a corner of his mind and moved on with life. At first, his entire world revolved around Lane. She was the light of his life, the apple of his eye, and Jason's life revolved around her. He took care of her as well as a single father could, and Lane never knew that she was missing anything. Sure, she didn't have a mother, but Jason was the best father that he could be and that was just fine with Lane. She was happy.
When Mandy and Jason met where they worked, at first it didn't seem like there was going to be anything going on between the two. However, when Mandy saw how absolutely hopeless Jason was at doing anything that didn't involve Lane, such as socializing, Mandy stepped in. She took Jason out at nights, arranged for sitters, and made sure that Jason made new friends. It didn't surprise any of their friends when they started dating, and eventually, when Lane was six years old, they married. Lane only fuzzily remembers a time without Mandy, but she honestly prefers Mandy. She calls Mandy 'Mom' to this day, and Mandy is one of the very few females that Lane didn't hate.
They were a happy family, for a time. However, one day, one of Lane's 'friends' from school that she had been busily flirting with for about a week came over to her house. Lane had invited him over, mostly because she needed his help on a science project, but he when he met her parents, Lane's friend explained exactly what was going on; he was a recruiter for Camp Jupiter, and Lane was a daughter of Venus, the goddess of love. She was thirteen years old at the time.
When she arrived at Camp Jupiter, she was placed in the third cohort, as her recruiter had been also been a member of the third cohort and was quite willing to vouch for Lane, which was how she landed in the third cohort, and it was there that Lane really hit her stride. She flirted with boys indiscriminately, uncaring of whether or not they had boyfriends or not. The only guys that she didn't flirt with were the ones that she had set up with other girls, which was usually only because they were so ugly in Lane's point of view that they weren't worth her trouble.
And life moved on. Lane made her way through life at Camp Jupiter.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:
Mira grinned in Sig's direction when he spoke, stifling a snort of laughter. He did seem to reach a more lighthearted side of Mira's personality, but that didn't mean that he really had to know that. Mira didn't particularly enjoy making herself look vulnerable, and she was fiercely of the opinion that appearing too lighthearted would make her look vulnerable. She wanted Sig to think of her as strong, especially since she really couldn't take him out in a fight. Not that that would stop her from trying or anything, but maybe if Sig thought of her as strong, it wouldn't come to that. Surprisingly enough, Mira did have some scraps of self-preservation instinct lurking within her fierce and fiery personality. She did want to remain alive long enough that she could fight plenty of people and continue to serve the tribe as a fighter.
Mira flexed her fingers lazily, shaking her head slightly and curling her toes inside her shoes.
She took a long moment to answer Sig's next words, shaking her head again at the audacity of his comment. Sometimes she wondered what she saw in her companion, but then Mira remembered that she didn't have any other friends, and it was nice to have some company every once in a while. She might be independent, but even the most introverted of souls needed a companion and Siegfried worked fairly well for that. When he wasn't being full of himself, he could be a fairly nice guy. And Mira wouldn't have snubbed any company right then.
Blinking, Mira refocused her thoughts on the present. "But trouble is always fun." Mira almost whined, but there was still a joking note to her voice. "More fun than spending any time with you, anyways." She hoped that he could tell that she was joking, but Mira wasn't going to get too bothered by it. If he couldn't tell, well, it was his loss. It wasn't like Mira cared that much about it.
When Siegfried began to walk, Mira glanced up sharply, blinking her eyes vigorously. Her mind was starting to wander, and she was honestly starting to feel the affects of not having gotten any sleep. She was still young, but the stress of getting in that fight and losing so impressively combined with not sleeping had made for a rather tired Mira, and it was starting to show. She was having a bit of trouble focusing, so it came as a bit of a surprise when Sig turned back to look at her and spoke.
"There's no one more bad ass than me." Mira commented lazily in response, sticking out her tongue in Sig's direction. She really didn't care what he had to say about her using her tongue because it was fun and Sig wasn't going to keep her from her fun! "Though them being confronted by a lion could be funny..." Mira mulled that over thoughtfully, glancing in Sig's direction hopefully. Maybe he would. It would be certainly worth the laughter that Mira would get from it.
A slightly offended huff escaped Mira at his next words, and she rolled her eyes in his direction. "I can take care of myself." Mira sniffed dramatically, "And just to spite you, I'll reach 25 years and a day before I do anything too dangerous." Well... it really depended on what 'too dangerous' was. Mira's definition of 'too dangerous' and everyone else's did tend to vary significantly. And Sig didn't need to know if she was lying...
