HOLDING ON TIGHTLY JUST CAN'T LET IT GO JUST TRYING TO PLAY MY ROLE DISAPPEAR
OH BUT ALL THESE DAYS THEY FEEL LIKE THEY'RE THE SAME
Alex was bored, tired, and had nothing to do with himself. It was late in the day, and he didn't have anything that he really needed to be doing. He had already trained for the day - hence his exhaustion - though he'd already taken a nap. He'd almost gone to visit Zoey, but he hadn't wanted to disturb her from her creations. Plus, Alfred was always snapping at him, seemingly liking and disliking him at the same time - liking him because Zoey did, but disliking him because every time he came around, Zoey left with him. That had been the reason why he hadn't bothered her - he hadn't wanted to pull her away from the Blacksmiths just because he needed something to entertain himself with and had no means of doing so. He found himself in New Rome, hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans, wandering the Forum. He could see the children running around, their parents sitting side by side and watching over them, or the younger adults getting coffee or grabbing a bite to eat. It was beautiful, the way everything was here, and he couldn't believe he only had three years left in the legion before he could come live here. It was almost like a dream, to be somewhere steady besides camp, to actually have a home that he didn't share with other people in barracks - the thought made him happy.
He'd never been anywhere stable in his life. Nothing had ever been stable, not in his childhood, and not until he'd come to camp. Camp Jupiter had been the only real place where he'd ever felt like he belonged, like he needed to be here, where he was. He knew that there would never be any problems being there because he was a demigod, his parent would've wanted him to be there, if Venus could/would care. He knew that Chantal belonged there too, because her dad was Mercury, and that just made everything better because she would be there with him, they would be together, and he was one of the very few people that he needed to survive. Just thinking about her made him smile, just like thinking about Zoey and one or two other people had the same effect, even if it was for different reasons. Despite the reasons being different, the people that he needed were just as important as the next, and he couldn't live without them. Alex pulled his left hand out of his pocket, running it through his hair and mussing it up even more than what it already was - a great feat, anyone who was close to him would say.
Alexandre cut into one of the cafes, feeling slightly hungry and in need of sugar. He wasn't one to drink coffee, he didn't really like it - the taste, the caffeine, and anything else associated with it-, but he did like hot chocolate. He went up to the counter, paying and getting his drink quickly because of the lack of people, ordering a muffin with it as well, and getting his order. He bit into the blueberry muffin with a serious happiness, all of a sudden starving instead of mildly hungry. The muffin was gone in mere minutes, leaving behind crumbs on the napkin, and nothing more. He took a sip of the hot chocolate, almost burning his tongue. He hadn't realized that he hadn't given it enough time to cool - Chantal had said that he would always rush into things, not think about them before doing actions that he thought would fit, and he guessed she was right in the simplest of situations. He set his drink aside, actually willing to wait for it to cool, and relaxed in his chair, looking out into the Forum from his spot in the cafe, once more at all the people.
