NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOWMANY BREATHS THAT YOU TOOK YOU STILL COULDN'T BREATHE The minute that Thalia had set foot in the Roman camp, she had liked it. Then again, that was probably some seriously unclear judgement on her part, since she'd spent the better part of what felt like all of her twenty four years on that stupid flying ship. She'd been tempted to kiss the ground when they'd landed, but had restrained herself, instead trying to walk on wobbly legs and clear her head. She didn't mind the ship when it wasn't flying, but when that thing was in the air, she couldn't stand it. Why did it have to be so high up, anyway? She would've preferred sailing, despite it taking longer. Not that they had made it for the battle the Roman camp had to fight alone, anyway, which was what the ever-idealistic Annabeth had been hoping for. Now, they were here, and they were trying to meld the two camps together, trying to get along with each other, so that Gaea wouldn't win the war just because of their gods-given egos - literally. Thalia had said that she would behave - but had made no promises just in case - along with Clarisse, because she knew that the two of them, if stepped up to, would cause heads to roll. She and the girl had shared a dark smirk, up to the task of fighting, but Thalia would actually be making an attempt to keep Annabeth and the rest of the gods and their need to make peace work happy.
She couldn't say that she was too happy about the fact that she needed to stay in Camp Jupiter for long, though. Artemis had split the Hunters - half had went with her, and were trying to keep the monsters far away from Camp Jupiter, and the rest had gone with Thalia to represent the Hunters in Camp Jupiter. It wouldn't be a lie if Thalia had said that she had wished for it to be only her that had come to Camp Jupiter to represent the Hunters. Lady Artemis needed the help out there, in the real world, where Thalia wanted to but couldn't help her. Not only that, her girls kept making fun of the boys around and whining about the fact that none of them really looked like they had manners or anything good about them. One had made that same comment about Jason - how he could respect them more - and Thalia had almost slashed her throat straight open. Now, Jason wasn't a topic up for conversation - everyone knew that. If he was brought up, then anything and everything had to be positive, or Thalia would ensure that there would be headless bodies involved. Artemis knew of her temper, her inability to tolerate stupidity, and many other things that she struggled to keep under control - especially in the Hunters, where most of them were very opinionated, or something of the sort. She'd gotten lucky - if you stuck 'un' in front of 'lucky', really.
She'd had to get away from the insanity that was the Greeks, though. She loved crowds, yes, but when they all had questions, or complaints, or even when all of them just had something to say, it bugged her. She didn't understand why everyone had to comment on something that wasn't going to change - and if they didn't like it, well, they didn't have to. They could take up their problems with the gods. Of course, when Thalia had said that that was what Annabeth should tell them all, all she got was a disapproving look. Apparently, that was unfair and too harsh. Thalia couldn't hold in an eye roll. She pulled herself out of her thoughts for a second, and looked around. She had come out for a walk, and now had no idea where she was. Real smooth, Thals, she thought to herself. All of the buildings ... looked exactly the same. She couldn't spot any differences in any of them. They looked like bunks, so she guessed this was where the Romans lived, their personal rooms, whatever they'd like to call them. That was all well and good, but they were tall, they were large, and there were a lot of them. She was surrounded. She took a minute, ran her hand through her long, jet black hair, and sighed. Only she could get lost on the first day.

i'LL STOP THE WHOLE WORLD FROM TURNING iNTO A MONSTER;Camp Jupiter; the place that was meant to be his second chance. Somewhere he could start over, with no one knowing the events in his past. It was an odd sense of refreshment, but he took this chance to heart. Luke made a name for himself here, and it wasn't as easy as he thought it would have been. Between his fighting abilities, and making friends with the right people, he had landed a spot in the First Cohort. This gave him a huge jump forward, and made it a bit easier to be known around camp. In the end, he liked it here. It was somewhat calmer than Camp Half-blood, and while he did miss his old camp, he was surprisingly content here. He was getting along with the other members of the First Cohort, possibly even made a long term friend in Alexandre, as well as a few others. There was just one thing holding him back, and it was something he should have let go of when he arrived here; his past. Luke had to keep it hidden from the Romans. After all, it wasn't as if he could have told them upfront that he was a Greek demi-god, and his most recent life changing moment would be when he was a meat suit for Kronos. That wouldn't have worked out in the slightest, he probably would have been killed on the spot.
A sigh escaped his lips as he let his head fall back against his pillow. Currently he was lying in his bunk, hiding away in one of the First Cohort's buildings. Ever since he heard that the Greeks would be arriving soon, he had been on high alert. It only got worse once he got wind of the Romans speaking about a Greek secretly among them. Once he was sighted by any Greek demi-god – if he hadn't been already – he was sure that his reputation would spread. Then what he had built up here would come crumbling down, no matter how loyal he had been to the Romans thus far. Luke had been making himself scarce since the Greeks had been introduced to Camp Jupiter, spending most of his time in his bunk. It wasn't hard for him to admit he was going a bit stir crazy, but it was easier to keep with his running excuse. His other cohort members had found him here yesterday, and asked where he had been lately. Of course, Luke had claimed he was sick – which didn't happen often. The others seemed a bit weary of this, but seemed to believe it after they mentioned that apparently there's a Greek spy amongst them. He hadn't meant for his face to pale or anything of the sort, but worry had struck him. Shaking his head, he got to his feet and stretched. This was stupidly foolish of him. He was going to be seen eventually, might as well get it over with so he can explain, than drag it out and not get the chance.
In his sudden rush to leave the building, he just nearly ran over someone that was standing outside. While managing to avoid hitting the person, he nearly lost his balance, but remained on his feet. He let out a relieved breath of air and started to face who he nearly knocked over. “Sorry about that, I didn't know …. anyone was out here.” His tone had started off friendly and apologetic, but as his eyes landed on the figure, it slowed into that of stunned. Thalia Grace. Luke Castellan had nearly ran into Thalia, and also almost fallen over in front of his childhood friend. Not only that, but it was Thalia, and she had very well seen him. He didn't even think of running, because that wasn't him, and she would have killed him for it anyway. So all he could really do is stare at him. His expression stayed mixed between confusion and shock. Luke's eyes however, were a totally different story. His lips opened to say something else, but then closed because no words came to mind. Nothing came to mind really, except for him wondering what she could possibly be thinking of him. Hades, he wouldn't be surprised if she started hitting him right then and there. It was something he would accept too, since to the Greeks he had been dead. To him, he had known nothing about the state of Camp Half-blood until Percy showed up. Even then, things were so backwards, and he couldn't exactly leave without pissing off the Romans. Luke just hoped that somehow, no matter what it took, he and Thalia could still be friends. After they got through this whole ordeal first.

NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOWMANY BREATHS THAT YOU TOOK YOU STILL COULDN'T BREATHE Thalia knew how it felt to be held back by your past. She'd felt like that her whole life. Jason and her mother had weighed heavily on her mind for a long time, following her as if she they were a dark storm cloud drawn to her because she was a daughter of Zeus. Now that Jason was here, now that she knew that he was okay and she could see him with her own two eyes, her childhood didn't clutch onto her and try to drag her backwards. While she was on the run, had taken her place. Things had been so good then. It had been just her and Luke, and then them and Annabeth, and everything had been perfect. It hadn't been a problem, she'd never had to worry that much, and ... she missed those days. They had been the best of her life. But now? They tried to drag her backwards, just like the memories of her and Jason had. Ever since she had known that Luke had been on Kronos' side, it had been doing that to her. Ever since he had died, and she'd been helpless to fix anything it had been doing that to her. She was Thalia! She should've been able to fix everything! But she hadn't been able to - and it had gripped her tightly, even after he had died - more so, in fact.
Thalia had heard the rumor that was going on that there was a Greek within the Romans ranks. She didn't believe that. She knew about Nico, because he had been explained when the two camps had gotten together, and since he had to be rescued he had been a topic of discussion. He was an ambassador for Hades/Pltuo - something that didn't surprise the daughter of Zeus by any means - and he had gone between camps as needed, as well as going to the underworld. He hadn't been who the Romans had been talking about - there was someone else. Thalia wondered just who had started it and just who they were talking about. Thalia was sure that it was just paranoia about having the Greeks coming in on their territory that had sent some poor moron into a frenzy, getting him or her to say that. She didn't give it much, if any, weight. After all, Greeks were the originals - why would anyone want to be a Roman if they were a Greek?
All of a sudden, Thalia was bumped into, but managed to stand her ground, maintaining her practiced balance as the other person managed to cause themselves not to fall over either. They both had good feel for the ground, apparently. She was ready to tear into them, ready to ignore their half spoken apology when she looked the person in the eyes and - Luke? Thalia almost felt floaty for a second, as if her stomach wasn't connected with her body, nor her mouth or any other body part that was necessary, before it all came slamming into the ground again. There was a Greek within Roman ranks - Luke. Dead Luke was standing right in front of her, he'd ran straight into her, now looking as if he'd seen a ghost, but technically, she was the one who was seeing a ghost. Really, she could say a million different things at that very moment, she could call him out on it, she could smack him for coming here instead of coming back to Camp Half-Blood, she could glare him down and hiss her lungs out about how she hated him but that wouldn't be true and she wasn't a liar. "I thought the Romans were supposed to be more disciplined than this - barreling down visitors doesn't necessarily seem disciplined," she said, eyebrow raised, and looking at him. She couldn't help but fold her arms against her chest, silent, and waiting.

i'LL STOP THE WHOLE WORLD FROM TURNING iNTO A MONSTER;If there was one thing that Luke had been dreading ever since he even heard of the Argo's existence, it was facing those that were greatly affected by his death. He had managed to make himself scarce enough to not be seen yet, and he had hoped that in that time he would have managed to figure out exactly what his explanation of the whole thing was. Naturally, he didn't even know where to start. That was the main reason he was still avoiding the Greeks, along with refacing his past, and possibly admitting that he was scared. He wasn't scared of seeing them, he was terrified of loosing them. For the longest time he had no idea whether or not the other camp was still around, or how much time had passed. It was him getting a taste of what they must have felt when he died, because for a while, he figured the Greeks were dead. It had been a hard thing to come to terms with, but since this was a beginning, he couldn't show sadness about his past that didn't exist to the Romans. Yet now his past was back, along with the Greeks. Now not only would he have his old friends judging him, but all his new Roman ones doing so as well. Along with suspecting him of being a spy this whole time. He couldn't blame anyone for getting mad, he only got angry as well when they wouldn't give him a chance to explain. Luke had learned time and time again that his anger solved nothing, so that only made him avoid the Romans a bit as well.
Yet despite his success streak so far, here he was standing in front of the one person he had been most nervous about seeing. Thalia Grace, probably one of the only people that were capable of seeing right through him. If there was only one bond he could save from all of this, the one thing he wouldn't lose, it would be whatever he had with her. Luke might never say that out loud, because he was bound to be teased by Thalia for it, but he knew it was true. Now he was treading on eggshells. No, it wasn't eggshells, broken glass seemed much more fitting. One bad action, one wrongly phrased sentence, and there was a good chance she would beat his face in and never speak to him again. While that could have been his brain greatly exaggerating, he didn't dare test it. His mind was now racing around attempting to grab at the proper words, and put them in a coherent order before he had to explain everything that had happened. It was clear he wasn't going to chance the two simply falling back into their old ways, picking at each other like nothing was wrong. At any rate, even if they did, it wouldn't last. Whether it was her asking, or him unable to bare it any longer, he would have to explain at some point, and his mind was speeding in order to prepare for that moment.
The seconds between his words and hers, while normally quick and instant, seemed to take forever this time around. Perhaps it was because in the back of his already busy mind, Luke was close to panicking. The words that left her lips – and before he got focused on that thought – would set the direction of this conversation. He knew Thalia well, just as she knew him. He could already hear about five different responses from her, and expected even more than that. However, when she made a typical smart remark, he couldn't help but relax. For now, he was safe. It wasn't going to last long, so he'd take advantage of it while it was here. “I heard that Greeks, not to mention a Hunter," He added bitterly, nodding towards the circlet that was never missing, "Always knew their way around. Or am I mistaken to think that you looked completely lost?” A smirk resided on his lips, even though a few moments ago he had been slightly taken aback. Luke was fully aware that there were at least three different meanings behind what she said. First, she had called him a Roman, which meant she was acknowledging the fact that he was residing at Camp Jupiter. Second, she lumped him in with her assumption about the Romans, which probably meant she was already insulted that he hadn't attempted to find her by now. Third was... well, it was a classic Thalia remark. He expected nothing different; even with that overworking mind of his. For all he knew he could have been wrong about everything, and she was trying to get under his skin. Though Luke was thinking of everything lately, so he wouldn't end up surprised, and yet with her, he still was.

NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOWMANY BREATHS THAT YOU TOOK YOU STILL COULDN'T BREATHE Thalia had never gotten over Luke's "death". It hadn't even been a thought, to move on from it. How could she? She was sure that he'd done the same thing when she'd been turned into a tree - at least, Annabeth had told her that he'd sit by her tree, among other things. Maybe he'd felt the same way about her. Then again ... she shrugged the thought off. She wondered how he'd felt, here in the Roman camp by himself, without anyone like him but Nico - someone she didn't think he'd ever met before he died. She guessed that it must've been rough, thrown out of his element into another camp that was so similar yet different to his own. Then again, was that really any different then what they were going through now? Sure, he must've thought something bad had happened, that maybe Kronos had really perservered, or that he hadn't done enough - he was always one to think of the worst in the situation, just as she had done. Then again, how could she know how he thought after so long. Maybe he'd changed. Maybe he'd grown, something to that effect. In her mind, she was still that kid who she ran around the country with. But he couldn't be the same because he hadn't been in a long time. A long, long time. However, her rational mind and the side of her that was ruling at the moment weren't exactly on the same page.
Thalia was probably one of the few people that could see through Luke Castellan. She'd known him since their runaway days, and really, she'd been with him through the good times and the bad. Just thinking about it made her feel better, somehow, that she was one of the people that knew him best. Even if she doubted her ability to see him, or his maybe having changed, she knew that if she got to the heart of everything, she would still know him. No one could change so drastically, no one could become so different. She was still the same Thalia, despite being Lieutenant Hunter. She was still the same person, despite being turned into a tree and back. Just thinking about that made her so sure that Luke was the same person, the person before Kronos got into his mind. Thalia knew that that had not been the real Luke. Maybe Kronos being gone, maybe him being able to be himself without his past deeds following him, had done him some good. Maybe he was okay now, a far cry from what he'd been before. But then again, even when Kronos had been with him, hadn't there been some Luke in him, since he'd been the one to end everything he'd worked so hard to start?
Thalia saw a certain amount of tension in his shoulders disappear, as well as the rest of his muscles. He didn't look fully relaxed by any means, but at least he didn't look as bad as he had seconds before. Maybe her not acting like a wolf and going straight for blood had made him more comforted. However, that didn't mean that that wouldn't happen at some point - but it wouldn't be coming from her. Thalia wouldn't wring him dry for information - when Annabeth spotted him, that'd be her job. He would tell her, or not tell her, when he was ready. She wasn't the type to force unless it was life or death - and with Luke right in front of her and not somewhere in the underworld, she felt that type of information could wait. She snorted. "Sorry, my internal compass doesn't read Latin," she said, and then shrugged. "I'm not lost. I just didn't mean to end up here. I'm perfectly fine figuring my own way around, thank you very much," she said, her electric blue eyes blazing as they always did when in these types of situations. She took a second to think - had it been her, or had he seemed bitter when he'd nodded to her circlet, and said the word Hunter? Her silver camo didn't seem to help either, her Hunter's uniform present for their first day in Camp Jupiter. "I'm not the only Hunter here, either. So you are mistaken on that count," she smirked. It was something small, but she grasped it with both hands - she was lost, and she'd take what she could get. However, his bitterness set him a peg down as well, and she figured they were even. For now.

i'LL STOP THE WHOLE WORLD FROM TURNING iNTO A MONSTER;Death was a hard thing to come to terms with, especially if you're returned to life. Luke could remember the first time he was told he had died. While he didn't act like it, the fact had scared him to the core. It only settled in and started to spread terror when he remembered that it had been Thalia that caused it, and the last thing he had seen was her on the cliff edge before he blacked out. The second time, he had been stuck in the after life and was supposed to stay there. While he should have considered himself lucky to have been brought back to life twice, he thought quite the opposite. The first time had only been because he was still needed for evil causes; he saw that now. This time around he was still a bit confused about. Luke hadn't been able to speak with Nico about his reasons, but the child of Hades had been the one that decided Luke deserves to have a second chance. He hardly saw himself as a hero for it, he was simply making up for all the other crap he had caused. Though he wasn't going to waste this life. Now that he knew the others were still around, he was going to make sure they stayed safe, no matter what.
While he had guessed that some people would have had a hard time dealing with his death, he didn't think it would be that hard to get over. He honestly didn't think he meant that much to the only two people he truly cared about at the Camp Half Blood. Annabeth had informed him that he was seen as a brother, and Thalia, well, she joined the Hunters. Luke could remember the days after she turned into a tree. They were always clear in his memory, never once faded. The guilt in him had been present for months afterwards. Any free time he had was spent sitting there, with him speaking to a tree. Of course, that was how it looked to anyone that didn't know. To Luke, he just wanted to make sure Thalia didn't miss a thing; whether she heard him or not. Eventually he got busier and busier, to the point where he hardly even saw the tree. Some days he would say that he just got too occupied, but deep down he knew it was to avoid the guilt. Though hers wasn't a death as it was more of a suspension of life – which he learned later, he still took it hard. The best friend that he had grown up with, suddenly taken away from him simply because he hadn't been fit to fight. It could be said that it was partially because of this that he became one of the best fighters in Camp.
None of that mattered now, of course, it was in the past. They were both standing in front of the other; her still non-tree, and him very much no longer dead. He wouldn't deny that she would have the bigger impact of this situation, and there wasn't a minute that passed he didn't wish he could tell her he was sorry. As for what, that would have taken a whole other week or two to explain. Despite the battle in his mind, though, his smirk still stayed strong. He scoffed and nodded, as if he had been offended “Oh I get it. So you wouldn't want me to accompany you back to that warship of yours, then?” The stupid question slipped out before he could grab hold of it and hide it away. Luke had just openly asked if she wanted him to come back to the Argo, even if temporary. He didn't know what he was thinking; he would see everyone at that point. All at once. He tried not to think about it. The smirk on his lips dipped into a scowl. “I really don't care how many Hunters are here. Just that they are, in fact, at Camp.” He couldn't help but sound so bitter about it. Luke hadn't agreed with the Hunters from the first moment he heard about them. The fact that Thalia was a part of it, and practically leading them, only made it a hundred times worse. Though he would never admit why he hated it so much; not even to himself. That would mean that he was starting to go soft, and had a major weakness. He couldn't go around having one of those, after all. EATiNG US ALiVE !words; seven seven seven (777). NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOWMANY BREATHS THAT YOU TOOK YOU STILL COULDN'T BREATHE Thalia didn't need to worry about wasting life. Didn't she have everything at her fingertips? She was immortal! She would live forever, provided she didn't die in battle, but knowing her, that wasn't a near-in-the-future reality. Really, immortals didn't have any real limitations. They didn't need to think about regrets, because their regrets would soon leave the earth, if not in tens or twenties of years, soon enough. Their memories didn't hold onto anything, or so she'd been told. Things melded together, memories and voices and people and all the types of things that humans held close to their hearts. Thalia couldn't imagine not remembering people like Jason and Luke and Annabeth, even Percy. Everything sat in her mind with such clarity that she couldn't imagine it not being there. The thought almost scared her. Maybe that was why, even if she wouldn't admit, when she couldn't sleep? She'd picture conversations, moments in time that she couldn't live with forgetting, and she'd go over details because even if she was physically fifteen, she was mentally twenty four - and before she knew it? Twenty four would turn into one hundred and twenty four, and she couldn't live with herself if she didn't remember the scar on Jason's lips, the look of Luke's smile, the color of Annabeth's eyes, or the way Percy's eyebrow raised when he got challenged to something.
Thalia had ripped into herself when she had kicked Luke off that cliff. That moment, something that had played over and over in her mind, would be one of those things that could never be forgotten - not even if she tried. She remembered the exact tone of his voice when he begged her, she remembered the look on his face when her foot collided with his middle, and she remembered how time completely stopped when he'd been suspended in mid-fall, mid-air, and she's known with such certainty that it had nothing to do with Kronos that time, when nothing could move. She remembered the way her eyes had burned, and she remembered the look in Annabeth's eyes, Percy's even, and the feeling of her throat so tight that she couldn't breathe. It made her almost angry to look at him now and know how devastated she'd been when he died, and now he was here and not dead and she hadn't known a thing. Sure she knew he couldn't have said anything, after all he was only a demigod not a god and not immortal - he was one in many, and even if he was special, it wasn't the same. She thought to Zeus, to Hermes, to Thanatos, to Hades even, and she wondered how this had happened and how it had stayed so hush-hush. Then again ... what would she have done had she found out before now? Her mouth went dry. Nothing. She was just another demigod, just another Hunter - there was nothing special about her, either.
"No, I most certainly wouldn't," she said, and she meant it. Even if meant that she'd never make it there, she didn't want his help. She didn't need it, she didn't want it, and she could surely make it there by herself, no matter how long it took her to get there. Thalia was independent, she was one person that was as self-sufficient as one could get in times like these, and she wouldn't take his help even if it was Luke. That didn't matter, not at that moment it didn't. When he spoke next, she knew for certain that no, she hadn't been hearing things. He was bitter - about the Hunters. She ... why would he be bitter about the Hunters? That didn't make any sense to her. "Do you have anything against my Hunters, Luke?" The name rolled off her tongue as if she'd never once stopped saying it, but it still seemed odd in her own mind to speak it, as if the reality hadn't sunk in yet. "Because if you do, we can settle it in the arena. You never could win against me, could you?" She asked, pushing at buttons just for fun, wanting to see his response.

i'LL STOP THE WHOLE WORLD FROM TURNING iNTO A MONSTER;Immortality never really interested Luke; he didn't see the point. Of course when he was younger, and he had first left home, he dreamed of living forever. Not just him, though, Thalia and Annabeth as well. Together the three would have become the best trio of fighters, and they would be around forever. Unfortunately, life made it very clear to him that he was very much mortal; since he was killed off twice. Despite it, he still didn't understand the great want of it. Oh wow, you get to live forever, stuck looking the age you accepted it forever. What about everyone else? Every mortal you know ages without you, and eventually dies, while you're left to move on. He couldn't do it; couldn't keep making friends only to lose them over the years. He just didn't understand the fascination that everyone had with it. Luke grew up being a fighter, he believed in earning your right to continue living. The fact that it could just be given to you, and you could just keep on living and not worry about death; it didn't seem right. Yet Thalia still had to go through it because she had decided to follow Artemis.
It was something Luke still didn't understand. He isn't at camp to see her come back to life, and he was on the so called 'evil side', and next thing he knows she's off gallivanting with the so-called prestige hunters. He had always tried to keep himself controlled about it, and the Camp had helped. They spoke about the Amazons, not the Hunters. It helped him get used to his life here, since he didn't have his constant reminders about his other life. Luke still had yet to explain to her why he had been in hiding for so long. There was no way in Hades he would admit to her that he didn't want to face his past. He didn't want to be judged, was that so wrong? Yet here he was, being bitter because their topic was the Hunters, and the main reason he hated them was because Thalia was following them. That fact was always in his mind. She decided to give up on love, to give up men; to give him up. It never sat well with him, and so the topic easily became a sore one.
Thalia's quick and direct response to his question that made him momentarily panic, only added to his down spiraling mood. While at first he felt relieved, because he didn't have to face everyone at once, it quickly turned into a hurt feeling. Luke should have known that Thalia was too proud to accept help, even from him. It was just the way they were, but at the same time there had been a small part of him that wished he had said yes. Then she started questioning him about his opinion on the Hunters, and even made a smart ass remark about his combat abilities. Something in his mind just snapped. “Yeah, I do have something against the Hunters. They recruited you, Thalia. They don't fall in love, or they're against it. Something like that. Not to mention that they're immortal! Yeah that's great, live forever, I don't care. But, you'll be leaving all of us behind. You'll stay looking ...” He paused, motioning at her, and trying to find a different word than perfect, “- like that, while the rest of us age. I-” Luke exhaled, throwing his hands in the air and shaking his head. It had to be this subject. She just had to pick the one that agitated him so quickly, and made him snap so easily. “Why can't you just leave them, Thals?” It was quiet, and had slipped past his lips without him even being aware of it. Shaking his head once more, he waved a hand at her in a dismissing way. “Forget it. Nevermind.” EATiNG US ALiVE !words; six - seven - six [676]. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THAT YOU TOLD ME YOU WANTED TO LEAVE NO MATTER HOWMANY BREATHS THAT YOU TOOK YOU STILL COULDN'T BREATHE Thalia had never had any desire to be immortal. It had never crossed her mind - okay, maybe once. When Zoe had offered her a chance to join the Hunters, she had seriously considered it for more than one brief moment. Immortality, fighting, it sounded so amazing. The power she would feel - she was practically invincible, she'd even be stronger, nothing sounded more perfect to the daughter of Zeus. But leaving Luke? It had shattered the image, broken the sound of it, and she had declined. But when he had joined Kronos ... she had nothing holding her back, then. She had no one to wait for, no one to worry about - Annabeth had grown up, and she had Percy, and she was capable of handling herself. So Thalia had joined - she'd always been weak to power, not that she'd ever admit that. It was why, when Luke had offered her the chance to join Kronos, to join him, she had thought about it. That split second had been one of the longest of her lives, and she wouldn't lie and say that it hadn't been tempting. Her sense of right and wrong, though, had been the thing to stop her. Maybe, if her need for power had outweighed it by just another ounce, she would've been in a different place - everything would've been different, she knew that.
He looked ... angry. She didn't understand it. She'd done nothing wrong - she'd just run into him, and she didn't understand why he sounded so bitter, or why he was acting the way he was. He had no reason to be mad at her - in fact, it was really the other way around. He was the one that had come back, and she was the one that hadn't known. Shouldn't she be the one that was angry at him? And then something had to have snapped in him, because he snapped at her - and he almost never snapped at her unless they really were arguing, or playing around. She hadn't thought this was either, but then again, she had tried to keep things normal when they were anything but normal, and she had been delusional enough to think that they didn't have anything to talk about, or anything of the sort. Luke, as a son of Hermes - Mercury now, Mercury - had to be the one that pointed out something so serious. Trickster the god may be, his son wasn't modeled after him.
As he spoke, she watched him. She wasn't fumbling for words, because she never fumbled for words, but her mouth did feel dry, and she didn't know what to say. Then, he ... he wanted her to leave the Hunters? The circlet on top of her head really did feel heavy in that moment, and she wondered if it had gained an extra five pounds or if she was imagining things. It wasn't as if ... the Roman and Greek camps were only together because of Gaea. The minute that she was defeated, they would be separated once more, as if they'd never been joint at one point in time. Luke was a Roman now, and Thalia was a Greek - as was Annabeth, as was everyone on the Argo II bar Jason. His dismissal of his own question made her more confused than anything, but the clarity that came along with her confusion didn't do anything to help her come up with something to say. She raised an eyebrow, her blue eyes slightly dimmer than usual, but she remained wordless. She turned around, and walked in the direction that she had come from - it wasn't right of her, to leave him there without a response, but what did he want her to say? She had nothing to tell him, because she didn't know what to tell herself - and if she didn't know where she stood, how could she tell him where he did? And so she left him there with nothing.
