& I WAKE UP EVERY EVENING WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE ( and it never seems out of place ) The past two months had been some of the hardest times that Annabeth Chase had ever gone through. It wasn’t as bad as having to defend Manhattan and Mount Olympus from a Titan invasion, or being betrayed by someone that she had once considered a very close, trusted friend, but it was still pretty bad. Percy had been taken away from her and lost all of his memories after only two months of dating, and though she was told he had the memories back now, she still felt unsure about a lot of things. Her feelings for him hadn’t changed, but she hadn’t been able to come up from the girls bunks in the Argo II to see him. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but she didn’t want to overwhelm him by rushing over to him even though she desperately wanted to. Plus, she also wanted to plan the moment carefully so that when they saw each other they wouldn’t have to worry about anything but each other, and how good it would feel to see each other again. Right now, that wasn’t an option since the Camp Half-Blood demi-gods still needed to get settled in at Camp Jupiter, and as one of the Cabin leaders it was her responsibility to help them do that. But she couldn’t lie, it was hard to concentrate on that when all that she wanted to do was find her boyfriend, wrap her arms around him and never let him go again. Unfortunately, that would have to wait.
Annabeth had never really been a patient girl, but she was trying her best to be one now. Her precious camp and new friends needed her help right now, and once things slowed down a bit she would jump right off the ship and find Percy. From what she had seen of Camp Jupiter – which really wasn’t much - it was very different from Camp Half-Blood, and she found herself longing to go back there. She had no idea why the two camps couldn’t work together without actually having to stay at the same camp, but she knew better than to question the gods. Still, that didn’t stop her from thinking that Hera had once again fallen off her rocker. Until a few weeks ago the two camps had no idea that the other one existed, and only knew now because of the Percy and Jason switch. It seemed silly to have to try to work together now to fulfil the prophecy of the seven when they had just learned about each other, but there was really nothing that could stop it from happening. Plus, they were kind of already at Camp Jupiter, so there was no turning back now no matter how ridiculous the idea sounded to the seventeen year old – who had really only agreed because it meant having Percy back. She couldn’t even begin to describe how much she’d missed him and how excited she was that she would eventually see him again. When she did, she was determined to make up for lost time, and would do so no matter what.
After inspecting the girls’ bunks and checking on their supplies in the dining portion of the ship, Annabeth quickly recorded a few notes onto her notepad then shoved it aside and sprawled down onto her own bunk. It was taking all of her will power not to wander up on to the Argo’s deck and climbing down to go and find Percy, and if she didn’t find something to distract her soon she knew she wouldn’t be able to sit there much longer. She couldn’t even mess around on her silver laptop right now since it was currently sitting under her bed charging. Sighing and unable to sit still, she pushed her long hair back behind her ear and heaved herself up again, going over things she needed to check on mentally. She had already done all of it more than once since their arrival, but there had to be something shed overlooked. Reaching for her clipboard, Annabeth made her way back up the steps of the ship and emerged onto the main deck. Once there, she did a quick head count to make sure everyone was present and then started to assist a few of the younger campers lingering around. Once that was done and she’d gotten them settled, she headed back downstairs, stopped off at the dining room to get an apple and made her way back to her bunk, hoping to find her laptop charged.

TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO SAVE A LIFE TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO PROVE YOU'RER RIGHTCRASH CRASH BURN LET IT ALL BURN THIS HURRICANE'S CHASING The past few months had been good to Thalia, for the most part. One of the biggest reasons why she had said that was, not only because she got to kick monster ass with the Hunters, but because she'd found out that she had Jason back. Jason, the brother that she'd lost, the brother that she'd thought herself responsible for losing, he was back. He was a Roman, he belonged to another camp, but he was back and he was her brother and she was just happy. She couldn't believe it when she'd first seen him, but that didn't mean anything. She'd seen the scar on his lip, where he'd tried to eat a stapler, and she'd known it was him. There had been that moment of startling clarity, and after that she'd been pretty darn joyous because, she'd lost one person close to her just to get back another? The thought had killed her good mood. It had been one extreme to the other, and even the thought of being so happy had twisted something deep in her stomach, not that she'd ever admit that. She hadn't told Annabeth, and not Jason either, cause the minute that the switch had gone on, then off, had been one that she'd never be proud of. Even if she knew why, she couldn't put it efficiently enough in words - ever.
Everything ... everything was so complicated now. With Gaea on the rise, another impending war, she needed to know why they needed to be the ones dealing with this crap. She wanted to know what their generation had done to deserve so much responsibility. If they didn't do this, the whole world as they knew it would be ended. If they didn't do that, the whole world as they knew it would be ended. Like, why couldn't the world just not end? And why were there so many people that wanted control, that wanted things to change, that wanted ... the word revenge sat bitterly on her tongue, and in the back of her mind. That word was always something that would bring memories that she didn't want to think about to the front of her mind. Artemis said that memories faded with the passing of time, that at one point she'd barely remember the things that happened now. As Lady Artemis had said, this was only the beginning of her life, and she had a lot ahead of her. Thalia didn't want to think about that, though. She didn't want to think about the days that she would have Annabeth or Jason's names on the tip of her tongue, but not be able to say them, because she wouldn't be able to remember them. The thought made her shudder, and it made her want to back out of her decision at times. But Thalia didn't break her word unless she knew she had to, or she wanted to so badly it hurt. She bit down on her tongue, and moved her mind.
She was walking to the girls' bunks on the Argo II, where she and Annabeth roomed together. She needed to see the girl, to speak to her, because ... she was disconcerted. So far, after seeing someone that she hadn't thought that it was possible to see, she had thought that she was insane. That she was seeing things. So she had moved her thoughts rapidly to anything and everything but said person. Except, her mind didn't want to co-operate, and was now slowly moving back in that direction. If she went there, she'd end up telling Annabeth. Annabeth had enough to deal with, what with being one of the people that was leading the peace efforts - Thalia was doing that too, in words, really all she was doing was making sure that no Romans were killed by any Greeks in this merging because she knew quite a few that were ready to make a bloodbath just for the fun of it - and seeing Percy but not talking to him yet and - the whole set-up was sheer insanity and the daughter of Athena didn't need anything else added onto her plate. Regardless, Thalia spotted Annabeth in the room, as she knew she would, and immediately bit down on her tongue, and came up with something else to say. "So, pounced on Percy yet?" Percy - that was a safe topic. She was sure that the daughter of Athena had already spoken to him, because that was all she could've talked about for the past Thalia-didn't-keep-track-of-time-but-knew-it-was-a-while. Thalia plopped down on her bed, but fidgeted slightly, and forced herself to stop as she looked to her best friend.

& I WAKE UP EVERY EVENING WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE ( and it never seems out of place ) The Argo II was actually one of the nicest war ships that Annabeth had ever seen. She had taken a pretty big interest in it while it was being built, and really had to admire all of Leo’s hard work to make it usable again. It had taken even more time to separate it into bunk areas for each gender, and though it had been difficult for them at first, the seventeen year old was pleased with the result. It would definitely prove useful whenever it was time to go on the next quest, and having transportation figured out in advance for once was very comforting. Working on that had managed to distract her long enough to keep her mind off of everything that was going on in their world right now, almost like it wasn’t really happening. But now that they had landed at Camp Jupiter and made plans for an extended stay, it was all becoming real again. Annabeth had dealt with plenty of evil before, but there was something about this one that had the brunette slightly scared. Gaea had been a powerful goddess and she was capable of a lot more than any of them knew, and it was starting to feel slightly unnerving. What would happen if the Romans and Greeks couldn’t get along? The entire thing was pretty much doomed, and the fear of failure wasn’t sitting well.
She knew that she wasn’t the only one feeling unnerved, either. Most of the demi-gods she spoke to were feeling that way too, especially when thinking about the possibility of the two camps butting heads instead of working together. It was completely possible given the fact that they did things so differently. It was only their first day at Camp Jupiter, so Annabeth was going her best to be open-minded, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t have doubts. It was a completely new thing to be working with demi-gods other than those who attended Camp Half-Blood, and it was definitely going to be a learning experience. She only hoped that they would all make it through the battle in order to learn whatever lesson Hera wanted them to learn by working together. It seemed like it was going to be all about control, and Annabeth hoped that the Romans didn’t think that they could order the Greeks around just because they were on their turf. After all, neither group was better than the other, they all had strengths and weaknesses which was why the Queen of the Gods had probably pushed them all together in the first place. Of course, she was personally really there to get her boyfriend back, but she was determined to help in any way she could as well to make sure that the Greeks got some credit for whatever battle they would be enduring next.
Thoughts flew through her mind as she paced around the cabin, deep in thought. A lot of the things going on recently and for the last few months still didn’t make a whole lot of sense to her, and she hated not having the answers. She was the kind of person whose mind was always set on overdrive, and her intelligence didn’t allow her to leave any stone unturned. Having the answer to something meant full understanding of whatever concept it was, and the seventeen year old craved it like a child craved candy. So, not having that craving fulfilled was driving her slightly insane, and that wasn’t good when combined with the fact that she was one of the people leading the peace efforts between the two camps. There was so much going on that she felt like she hadn’t had time to just sit down and breathe in a long time. She was so caught up in these thoughts that she didn’t hear the footsteps coming into the cabin until she heard a familiar voice and turned to see Thalia standing there. Blushing at the mention of Percy and the question as a whole, she simply shrugged. “Not yet, unfortunately. You have no idea how much I wish I could, but there’s still so much to do right now and I don’t want to overwhelm him since I’m told he only recently got his memory back,” she responded with a heavy sigh, lowering herself onto her bed. ] “Have you talked to him yet?” Maybe if her friend had, Annabeth would be able to gather up enough nerve to give into her desire to run over, hug him tightly and never let go. TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO SAVE A LIFE TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO PROVE YOU'RER RIGHTCRASH CRASH BURN LET IT ALL BURN THIS HURRICANE'S CHASING She didn't like ships. She didn't like heights, and she didn't like ships. She didn't like the underworld either, for that matter. She had the worst of the worlds - really, she couldn't win. She was most happy when she was on the ground, on her feet, and that was what. When the Argo II had landed, it had taken every bit of self restraint Thalia had in her to not run off the ship and start kissing the ground. She had been one of the first off the ship, though, and she'd sworn happily in Greek that the land she was standing on was the best land that she had ever stood on. Annabeth had thought she was crazy, but understood - Jason snickered at her from the sidelines, and had taken a thump upside the head for it, too. Sure, she knew that Repair Boy had done a very good job building the ship, as well as the people that helped him to do that. She wouldn't disagree because, after all, it was a magical flying ship - the fact that it worked at all, was actually comfortable to live on, and was where they were staying now obviously attested to the fact that Leo was competent and able to do something that amazing - or lead and design the operation of making something that amazing.
Thalia didn't want to be in the midst of another war. She didn't want to lose anyone close - not Jason, not Luke again, not Annabeth, not even Percy. She didn't want to see those close to her hurt, or suffering from loss, or anything else that they had had to endure during the first war that they had survived and won together. Sure, they had won that, but really, had they won? So many people had died, but Kronos had been eliminated. But now, there was Gaea - someone ten times worse than Kronos, running around, trying to put a stopper on death and raising monsters in every direction. Thalia was terrified of the thought that they might not win this time, though she said nothing. She was a daughter of Zeus, Lieutenant Hunter of Artemis - she had no time to spare for silly fears and limiting paranoia. After all, even if she wasn't important or of use now, that didn't mean that she couldn't help in the future. She knew Artemis would keep her up to date, but since she hadn't been in contact with the goddess, she assumed that there was nothing to report. No news was good news, but Thalia's outlook was getting slightly bleak, as even Lady Artemis would take time to send her an Iris-message, speak to her in the back of her mind, just to know that nothing had gone wrong. Having gotten none of that made her blood boil, not with anger but with worry, not that any of them needed anything else to worry about.
Thalia nodded at Annabeth's words. Of course the daughter of Athena had planned out what she would do and how it would affect her boyfriend. Then again, maybe Annabeth was using Percy's feelings as an excuse not to talk to him. Thalia looked at her appraisingly, trying to figure out if she was speaking the truth or not - with Annabeth, she wouldn't know, not now at least. "You'll have to talk to him sometime, whether you like it or not," Thalia said, knowing that they would have to work together at some point. All of them. Percy wouldn't let Annabeth talk about strictly planning, she knew that - he was more stubborn than she was. When Annabeth had asked if she had spoken to him yet, Thalia sat up, straight as a board. "No, I couldn't, how did you--" Thalia stopped herself. The daughter of Athena had been referring to Percy, not Luke. She didn't know about Luke yet. Thalia swallowed, "No, I haven't. Haven't had the chance to, yet. He seems busy, playing Praetor," she said, playing it cool. She relaxed back once more, trying to ignore the fact that she had just completely jumped to conclusions and managed to make herself look out of her mind - not that she was sure that she was in her right mind at the moment, but that was besides the point - but the whole point of not telling Annabeth had been to save her the stress. Now, though, she wasn't too sure that her best friend wouldn't hop on her response in complete paranoia, and point out the fact that she had freaked out at a simple question. Thalia didn't look nervous anymore, but she was sure it was only her father's genes that kept her that way. Now, she'd act natural and claim plausible deniability to everything and hope that was enough.

& I WAKE UP EVERY EVENING WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE ( and it never seems out of place ) Annabeth had never had an issue with heights, but sometimes it took her a while to get used to the feeling of being so high up. That had happened when she’d first stepped aboard the Argo II, and it hadn’t been the most pleasant of experiences. After she got used to it, however, it wasn’t too bad. It was just a matter of not thinking about the fact that they were so high up in something that wasn’t completely closed off like an airplane. She’d gotten over the uneasy feeling of being on board that ship, but she felt a lot better once they had landed at Camp Jupiter and were out of the air. It was always better to have her feet planted firmly on the ground than to risk being in the air, even if they had two of Zeus’ kids with them onboard. She had appeared a lot calmer on board, or at least she was calmer than Thalia – who had more or less freaked right out. It had even made her feel better to watch her friend smack Jason upside the head. The banter between the two of them was one of Annabeth’s favourite forms of amusement, and it had taken her mind off of the airship long enough to actually enjoy the ride. They had flown for what felt like forever, and she couldn’t even begin to describe the relief she felt when they’d landed. It was partially because of not being in the air anymore, but it was mostly because she knew she’d get to see Percy again.
The last two months without her boyfriend had been hard to get through, but it had been a huge relief to know that he was alright. Now that he was back in her life, the idea of another war was frightening. She had already lost people she loved in the previous war, and didn’t want to risk it again. She didn’t want to see their world suffering again, nor did she want to watch anyone she loved get into danger. It had been difficult enough to get through the first war and stop the Titan invasion, and the idea of fighting Gaea was less than appealing. But she had learned long ago that wars were kind of a constant thing in the demigod world since many of the gods and Titans wanted revenge. It was a ridiculous cycle, but there was really nothing that anyone could do to stop it. Plus, with the added strength and numbers from the Romans they would probably make it out a lot easier than they had during the attempted Titan invasion. Or at least, that’s what she had to believe; that was the only thing that was keeping her from trying to convince her fellow Greeks to turn the Argo II around right then and there and go back to their own camp. It was already weird to be among other demigods that weren’t Greek and working with them was going to take some getting used to, but the seventeen year old was doing her best to keep an open mind and think positively. Gaea was ten times worse than Kronos, and they had to be even stronger in order to win this time.
She had complete faith in all of them, but the Romans were kind of like uncharted territory, so she couldn’t factor in any faith in them as of yet. So far, she didn’t feel like there was any reason to doubt them, but she knew there was going to be some hostility between the two camps because they each had their own way of doing things. Annabeth watched as Thalia nodded at her, clearly not surprised that she was already planning how she and Percy would reunite. She caught the look she was being given and blushed, feeling slightly embarrassed. “I know, I’m just…nervous, I guess,” she responded, fidgeting with a loose thread on her blanket. She watched Thalia sit up at her question, raising an eyebrow in confusion since her friend seemed almost uncomfortable. “How could I what?” she asked, narrowing her eyes. Annabeth had to admit that she didn’t really like the sound of that sentence, especially since her friend had stopped herself almost as soon as she’d started to speak. Had Thalia spoken to Percy already and didn’t want to tell her since she’d beaten Annabeth to it? At her friend’s next words, she relaxed a little. “Yeah he does, doesn’t he?” That was another reason why she was afraid to reunite with her boyfriend; he had things going on and she didn’t want to distract him or ruin anything he had established for himself. “So have you met any of the Romans yet?” she asked, trying to change the subject. That seemed like a safe change for the time being. WORDS,, 812 TAGGED,, thalia OUTFIT,, CLICK NOTES,, hooray for muse being back, and a good length! xD TEMPLATE,, by PANIC! ITS LAUZ of CAUTION

TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO SAVE A LIFE TELL ME WOULD YOU KILL TO PROVE YOU'RER RIGHTCRASH CRASH BURN LET IT ALL BURN THIS HURRICANE'S CHASING Thalia hadn't been as nervous as landing as she had been as flying. Sure, anyone would be apprehensive. They were going to a totally different camp, with totally different people, and if they didn't get together and win a war, they would all die. The pressure was on, and Thalia was glad that demigods weren't the type to break. She was sure that mortals couldn't handle this type of thing - she knew they fought wars of their own, but then they developed disorders, things like PTSD - and the gods didn't give them enough time to have any problems other than dyslexia and ADHD. Really, demigods dealt with so much stuff that really, they should've been the psychopaths of society. But no, they had to save the world, they had to be the ones that made sure that titans didn't take over the world. that everything wasn't irrevocably changed, and really, she was tired of them running to the rescue while the gods sat up on their high horses and acted like they couldn't do anything. Thalia was sick of the demigods always being the ones to take care of everything, but really, if they didn't do it, then who would? Thalia didn't want to live in a world run by titans. So she, and everyone else around her, dealt.
Gaea was ten times stronger than Kronos, if not more. The thought of demigods being the one to fight them was daunting, and she was sure that she wasn't the only one that was ready to fight as soon as possible. Thalia knew that that didn't make any sense - if someone was scared of something, why would they go towards it? She fought through her fear, thinking it the easiest way to get over things. Yes, she would never get through or over her fear of heights, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't do her best to ignore it if that was what needed to be done for the greater good of the situation. The daughter of Zeus wished it was time to fight, already. She wished that it didn't all depend on seven people, none of which counted her. She was one on the outside, someone that Annabeth, rarely, and Percy, even more rarely, came to consult with. She was sick of this, how she had to sit in the background while she was the type to micromanage. Even though she wasn't a control freak, she didn't need to be. She was always a leader, she was always in control, she was always the person that stepped up and had some major part. But now? Little Lieutenant Hunter of Artemis got to sit back and watch the big kids play in the sandbox from her position on the swing set. And it sucked. She didn't know what to do with herself, really, and she knew she'd end up going back and seeking attention from the one person she shouldn't really be around at the moment, or ever. However, she wasn't going to lie and say that she'd stay away because ... well, she wasn't stupid, and she wasn't in denial.
Thalia nodded. She knew the nervous feeling, her stomach had flipped and flopped like that before, just ... not anytime recently, she told herself. Definitely not any time recently. And no, she wasn't just telling herself that, since she surely wasn't in denial. She heard the girls' other questions, and she knew she could pull it off. She knew she could pretend that everything was perfectly fine, and that she knew absolutely nothing about anything or anyone being off in Camp Jupiter. She knew that she could use the acting traits that her mother had passed down, and she knew that she could make Annabeth believe that she had been nervous about Percy, a nervousness that she had only because her best friend was nervous, almost like sympathy pain but with anxiety. But she couldn't. "Luke is back and he's here in Camp Jupiter and he was brought back from the dead and he's in the first cohort as a son of Mercury," Thalia said all in one breath. Then it just came spilling out. "I ran into him, and he's okay. He's been here, I don't know for how long, but he's been a regular son of Mercury, with no one knowing anything. And now that we're here ..." Thalia trailed off. She was sure that the Greeks being here wasn't going to be good for him. After all, none of the Romans knew about him, or else he wouldn't have been able to live here. So the fact that the Greeks were there, was surely going to rain on his parade.

& I WAKE UP EVERY EVENING WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE ( and it never seems out of place ) Now that she was on solid ground, Annabeth was a lot happier. She’d never been a fan of flying but always tolerated it when a quest or adventure required her to, including now. Coming to Camp Jupiter wasn’t exactly a quest per say, but it was close enough since it was a new experience. She’d been surprised when Jason’s memory came back and he remembered that there was a whole other camp for Roman demi-gods, and was even more surprised – and relieved – to hear that Percy was probably there. She had to admit that switching the two camps most respected leaders had been a good idea, but she still wasn’t sure that the two camps would be able to merge and work together the way that Hera wanted them to. It was going to take a lot of time and energy, and she was sure that there would be a lot of talk about how much the Greeks didn’t like the Romans and vice versa when each camp was out of earshot of the other. Still, she was going to try to keep an open mind and lead her precious camp to victory when the time came, even if it meant working alongside the Romans. It wasn’t like they were bad people or anything, their fighting and battle strategies were just different, and so was the atmosphere of their camp. It was something that the demi-gods of Camp Half-Blood would have to get used to, and with time she was sure they would all be able to adjust to the differences – or, at least, she hoped they would.
Gaea was going to be a whole new challenge because she was stronger than anything the demi-gods had faced in the past, but Annabeth was sure that they could handle it. Of course, they’d needed more numbers than they had, which she assumed was the reason why Hera had merged the two camps. Each one had their own unique styles and weapons, all of which would deem beneficial when the final battle came. She was never one to admit to fear, but she was honestly feeling it deep down in the pit of her stomach. Her mind kept wondering what would happen if the two camps couldn’t work together peacefully, and it was coming up with consequences that she really didn’t want to think about. Every time a thought like that entered her mind, she did her best to shake it away and distract herself, and most of the time it worked. They all needed time to get used to each other, but time was going to run out eventually and she hoped they’d be prepared when it did. Gaea had already set her plan in motion, and looking around the two camps Annabeth wasn’t sure she could say they were ready for something unexpected. It was the sad reality of the demi-god world right now, and she could only hope that it would improve with time. If it didn’t, they were all more or less screwed, and would have worked this hard for nothing. That was not something she liked to think about, but in times like this it was pretty unavoidable.
Annabeth watched her friend nod, probably relating to the nervous feeling. Thalia would never admit it, but Annabeth knew that she got that feeling whenever she saw Luke. The two of them had bickered to no end, but behind all that, the seventeen year old knew that there was something deeper going on between them. She would never suggest that to Thalia however, since it would probably be a painful subject. She had, after all, not even gotten a goodbye from him before he’d died. Thinking of Luke brought sadness, and she shook her head a few times to clear her thoughts. Once she did, she felt better and focused back on her friend, waiting to hear the response to her question. Staring at the girl after she spoke, Annabeth wasn’t sure she’d heard right. “Wait, back up. Luke’s here? she breathed, feeling her own shock and surprise fill her up. “I…wow,” she responded, not exactly sure what to say. “This should make things even more interesting…”she trailed off, not wanting to upset her friend. She was still trying to absorb the news herself, now thinking about how things were going to be even more complicated now. With the Greeks there and knowing exactly who Luke was, a lot of things that should have probably been kept in the dark would be brought into the open, and she wasn’t sure she was prepared for that. She’d been mentally preparing to face Percy again after several months, and now she had Luke back too. That was just too much for her to absorb right now, and she put a hand to her forehead and laid back on her bed.
