Normally, Lane wasn't much of a walker. She didn't spend much time in the 'great outdoors,' as a whole. Climate control was perhaps her favorite thing in the world, followed swiftly by anything related to Lane's appearance. So no, Lane wasn't much of an outdoors-y type. She much preferred the climate controlled indoors, where it was much easier to look cute without worrying about sweat making your makeup run or the wind messing up your hair. Was it shallow of her? Certainly. But Lane was certainly shallow. Appearances were her forte.
The sun was sinking low over the horizon, and was preparing to make a disappearing act for the night. It was very nearly twilight which was perhaps Lane's favorite time of the day when she did actually spend time outside. It was cool enough that Lane didn't have to sweat very much, and it was still light enough that Lane could see her surroundings, and those around her could see her. The latter was rather more important to Lane, however. She was all about appearances, after all.
The fact of the matter was that Lane was bored. She didn't have anything to do! And Lane fully expected someone to come along and entertain her. The problem was that there was no one out there, and Lane was quite bored. She needed entertainment! More specifically, she needed someone to flirt with. Whether or not the universe would help her out with that remained to be determined. Until then, however, Lane was just going to whine about being bored, whether or not there was anyone around to hear her. In Lane's self-centered world, she was the only person who really mattered. And right now she was bored. So she really did fully expect the universe to bring someone along to entertain her, and she was rather irritated that it hasn't happened yet.
An exasperated sigh escaped Lane as she glanced about. Okay, this path place . . . thing really was nasty. There was dirt all over the place. What if he got into her clothes? Lane was not particularly impressed by this particularly path that she had begun to wander down. What had possessed her to go wandering out on the trails again? They were gross and outdoors-y. Everything was so much better inside.
With that thought in her mind, Lane pursed her lips for a moment, irritation obvious on her features as she set off down the trail, heading back towards the camp. Her pace was slow, as Lane wasn't a huge fan of walking quickly, and she wanted to make sure that her clothes stayed pristine, just in case she did run into any guys out there. It wouldn't do to not look her best if she did run into anyone interesting.
And so Lane delicately picked her way down the trail, making her way gingerly back towards Camp Jupiter. Maybe there would be something interesting going on there there! Or maybe she would run into a guy. Or something. Lane just wanted something to happen before she died of boredom, as melodramatic as she was.

Cassandra felt confused, and it was not a feeling she enjoyed at all. Ever since she had come to camp, she hadn’t let anyone really close to her, unless they were her aunts or uncles. Though, she had felt something, feelings, for someone else that wasn’t her relatives. She had just been laying in a field, trying to get away from all the pressure and comparisons she had in her life. She hadn’t expected anyone to come upon her, or even if they did to strike up a conversation with her. But, that had happened. She had actually had a conversation with someone and enjoyed it, no matter how short the conversation was. Then, she had to go and screw up.
He thought she was a Greek demigod, and she certainly wasn’t. One mistake, one slip up. She had wanted to correct her mistake the instant she had realized she had made it, but something told her she shouldn’t. After their conversation she wanted to avoid him at all costs, but she couldn’t do that. She accepted his invitation somewhat, stopping by the coliseum, and watched him and his siblings for a few moments, not going inside and making her presence known. She had wondered to herself what was she doing, and in all honesty, she didn’t have a clue. She left the coliseum and had spent the majority of the rest of the day inside of the second Cohort’s barracks, trying to figure out why she felt even the slightest need to lie to him, and why she even felt the need to see him again. She wanted some, though she didn’t receive a single answer for her questions.
Now, she was walking, continuing to wonder why she cared the slightest bit about him. She tried to deny the fact that she even remotely liked him, how could she? He was a Greek, and she was a Roman, no matter how much she hated the fact. She knew the answer to her questions, though she was too stubborn to believe they were true. She couldn’t have feelings for him. Love was a sham, and a lie. Just look at what love had gotten her mother, she thought angrily. Though, Cassandra didn’t completely blame love for her mother’s demise. She blamed her mother’s own vanity. But no, she couldn’t have feelings for him… But if that was true why she couldn’t forgive herself for lying to him, yet not be able to tell him the truth? It couldn’t be feelings she told herself, it couldn’t be feelings.
She stopped for a moment, looking at the sky for a moment as if looking for an answer. The day was almost over, and the sky was a mass of different colors. It would be night soon, and if Cassandra didn’t have a single answer for her questions by then, she might just go mad. She sighed in frustration, looking down from the sky, a confused, and almost somewhat glowing expression was on her face as she thought for a moment about his smile, and his laugh. Oh, she wanted to know what these feelings were, and she wanted to know that instant.
She shook her head, and then she noticed her aunt Lane. A smile made its way onto her lips in that moment. Elaine had to be her favorite aunt out of all of the daughters of Venus that were currently at Camp, and she understood her better than most people did. She might have a clue what was going on, or what she was feeling. Plus, she just plain missed talking to her Aunt Lane. She caught up with her aunt after a few moments, the slightly glow in her face was still there when she reached her aunt. She laughed lightly “Aunt Lane! It’s so nice to see you.". She waited a few moments before saying “I have a question I have to ask you….”. She wasn’t sure if this was the best option, seeing as her aunt really cared about her, and was nosy enough. Knowing her, if she did have feelings for Kane..well she was sure to meddle. She paused and bit her lip, debating this in her mind. Maybe she would change the subject as soon as she could. Oh well, too late now.

Lane was entirely unaware of the fact that she had company. Instead, she simply meandered her way along, walking slowly, humming softly beneath her breath. The tune wafted lazily through the cooling air as Lane made her way along, her head tilted upwards slightly to examine the sky. She was definitely bored! Lane wasn't much of a nature appreciator, so it took a lot of boredom for Lane to be willing to do stuff like 'examine the sky.'
It was only when Cassandra reached Lane that Lane realized she wasn't all alone. Her head lowered hastily, and Lane glanced at her favorite niece, a hint of curiosity glittering in her eyes as she examined the slight glow to her niece's cheeks. Was there a guy that she didn't know about? Or possibly a girl... But Lane had always pegged Cass as straight. But that glow was hard to miss. Still, Lane wasn't about to pester Cass about it just yet. She would let her favorite niece have a few moments and Lane would see if her niece spilled the beans. Lane did love juicy details.
A grin widened across Lane's features at Cassandra's greeting. "Well, if it isn't my favorite niece!"
[/b] Lane spoke cheerfully, "It's good to see you too!"[/b] The interesting thing about their relationship was that Cassandra was actually older than Lane was... Not that that really bothered Lane. She didn't mind weirdness. Especially not in her very few female friends. Actually Cassandra might be one of the only ones... But Lane's thoughts were dragged back to the present when Cassandra continued. The thought of a question seemed to perk her up immediately. Maybe Lane would get to help out some! And maybe this meant that Cassandra was spilling the beans about what had her so happy. Not that Cass would be able to keep it a secret if she didn't actually want to disclose the details about what was going. Lane was a very nosy young woman, after all. "What do you need, Cass?"[/b] Lane smiled what she hoped was a comforting smile in her friend's direction, noting Cassandra's rather nervous actions. What was going on here? It made Lane curious! She wanted to know more! Lane did enjoy meddling in the affairs of others, especially in the affairs of her friends. Or ugly guys. Both of them were very satisfying to mess with, in Lane's mind.
