Being the God of Music, Poetry, Sun, Archery, and Healing, Apollo has plenty on his plate as far as authority goes. He was the divine patron of the Greeks, and prefers his Greek side more. While he is very capable in Archery, he has rarely involved himself in mortal wars since the Trojan War. Apollo is the God of Prophecy, and as such has been the God in charge of the Oracle of Delphi since early childhood. He also became the God of the Sun after the Roman empire caused the former God, Helios, to fade away.

Apollo is known for having the most demigod children, as well as having the almost the most mortal romances of all the Gods, behind Zeus and Poseidon. He often teases his twin sister, Artemis, as well as flirts with her Hunters in spite of her forbidding him to. Apollo is almost always found in the form of an attractive, blond teenager/young adult, enabling him to attract almost any mortal should he so choose. He is also prone to becoming infatuated with things relatively easily, such as different styles of poetry, usually after being around their root of creation.

By his sister, Apollo has been described as incredibly arrogant and cocky, making him probably the least serious Olympian God. He embraces his intellect, his humor, and his talents to the fullest extent.

HISTORY:

Apollo is one of the twins born to Zeus and the Titaness Leto. He and his twin sister, Artemis, were threatened by Hera, because she was angry at Leto and the babies, due to her husband's infidelity. They were born on a floating island called Delos, after Hera forbade their birth on islands or mainlands. After birth, Hera sent the dragon serpent, Python, to attack his mother. Apollo, with the use of a Golden Bow and Arrow crafted by Hephaestus, was able to kill Typhon, making him the God of Archery and Prophecies, being in charge of the Oracle of Delphi.

Over the course of his immortal life, a few notable things happened. Apollo became the God, outside of the Big Three, notable for his great number of mortal romances and demigod children, apparently compensating for his sisters decision to be an eternal maiden. He also became the God of Poetry, Music, and Healing. Stories were told of how anytime Apollo visited a country or town from which a type of poetry was native, he would spend numerous years to decades forming an annoying amount of his prose in the form of that poetry. Currently he is a large fan of Haikus, after having spent time in Japan.

During the transition from Greek to Roman culture, Apollo managed to stay the same, for the most part. He wasn't as reckless, but he remained the most easy going God, even if that represented even less now. However, the Romans ceased to acknowledge Helios as the Sun God, and as Helios faded, he gave his authority over the Sun and the Sun Chariot to Apollo, while Artemis assumed the role of Goddess of the Moon. Now, Apollo drives the Sun Chariot, most frequently in the form of a sports car, across the sky every day.

Now, with the impending threat of Gaea and the Giants, Apollo has sobered up, after a long period of time where we was living the clichéd bachelor life. His chosen form is still a beautiful man, with gold hair and blue eyes, though, and he has not abandoned mortal romances entirely. Whether or not it is because he knows better than to allow an entire generation to be devoid of demigods or is simply incapable of stopping is another question in itself. He still involves himself and will lend aid to demigods who truly need it, but because of Zeus's restrictions, has made his direct aiding a less frequent occurrence.
