"Meet Aquarius. Or Damian, as he likes to be known. By the look of him, you would just see an average looking teenager from the nation’s capital. In contrary, he is more than that. Born fifteen years ago on the 16th January 1996 to a Regina Jenkins, life started off as average as can be for Damian. He was born into a single parent set-up, his dad having left his mom quite early on. After years of wondering, this demigod found out the reason why a few months ago – his dad is Poseidon, God of the Sea. So you can see why there weren’t many birthdays cards.

But like I said, Damian has only known about his parentage and status as a demigod for about two or three months really. He was basically forced into spending a weekend with his potential step-father to be, alongside his mother (for support). The joys of camping. In Damian’ mind, those forty-eight hours were going to be hell. Why should he have to start calling this ‘Amos’ guy Dad whenever Damian didn’t even know who his real dad was? The only reason why the loved-up couple were presented with his companion was for the sake of his mom. Damian really cared about her and there was a part of him that knew the marriage would be good for his mom (as much as it would pain him to admit it publicly). To cut a long story short, the trio had set up camp near a stream out in the open wilderness. Everything was running smoothly as could be. There was a camp fire and marshmallows and everything. What more could you want?

An attack by a couple of stray hellbounds, that’s what. Now Damian could see them. Regina could see them with her gift to see through the mist. But poor old Amos could not so you can imagine the panic and chaos that was going on. The dogs from hell came out of no were attacking the three from behind. Before he knew what he was doing, Damian was channelling his power and energy into the nearby water. The hellbounds didn’t know what hit them but Regina knew what was to come next.

Having recieved a letter from Damian’s father many years before, Regina knew of the impending need to tell her son of his father’s identity and send him to one of the few safe places (if not the only place) where Damian would be safe – Camp Half-Blood.

Like a lot of kids, you might think that starting at a new place might be fun, somewhere to start over but for Damian, it wasn’t. You see Damian is very self-concious and as a result, would more closed off than his peers. That’s not to say he won’t speak nor that he isn’t friendly. Infact he is fiercely loyal to those who he feels emotionally close to (to the point of it being fatal, if you know what I mean). His problem is very much the fact that he is self-concious and in dire need of feeling like he has friends who accept him for every part of him. As a result, he is still coming to terms with a lot of issues (for example, his sexuality). He is starting to realise to be comfortable around people and become more outgoing though so there was some hope for him at camp.

Upon arriving at Camp Half-Blood, Damian was updated on everything Greek. The brewing war that ended only year ago. The disappearance of a leader named Percy, the appearance of a guy called Jason. The building of a flying ship. Everything. He probably didn’t matters whenever people discovered that he was the son of Poseidon. Like Percy. Damian just stuck to the routine that he was given at camp until the boat was ready.

Standing at the bow of the Argo II, you wouldn’t expect Damian to be the son of the Sea God. I mean unless you saw those bright sea green eyes and the jet black hair. Then you would say he was the image of his father."

The sounds of waves crashing down alongside the boat’s striving body. The smell of the sea salt being blown on a whimsical gust of air. The only things really registering in the demigod’s mind. He was just standing there at the front of the ship with his eyes closed. He felt . . . at home as if no where humanly possible could ever live up to the feeling of being at sea. A lot had happened over the last few months: He had nearly lost his mother; he had found a father; even now he was on his way to a new camp of people like him but weren’t like him. Did they even know he was coming? Damian didn’t want to make a bad impression but if the rest of the greek demigods were right then it had to be done. The whole prophecy thing. Things had become so much more confusing for Damian now that he knew more than ever. It just presented more questions. This moment was the first in a while that made him feel calm, as if all of his troubles had been thrown away, now at the disposal of the wind.

That did not mean that all of his inner turmoil was gone. That was never going to leave him but for this moment, he could be happy. The demigod sighed. He did not want to reach land because when they did, he might not have moments like these to clear his head. If what the others said were true, he would just need some body of water and he would be fine. Off in the distance, a shadow appeared. It was a little faint but Damian was certain that it was land. Running off into the depths of the ship, Damian knew that he was looking for a girl, a specific girl with long, curly, blonde hair and stormy grey eyes. Bursting into the quarters used for strategy, the words were blurted out, “land is in sight. Land is in sight. We have reached Camp Jupiter. Time to meet the Romans.”
