ANYTHING ELSE: Due to the events that followed Percy, Luke is often seen as an evil type of person. However, it's all mostly misunderstandings. Luke cares for his friends, and those close to him like any other person. He got caught up in the wrong things, and sacrificed himself and died a hero. It has been said that Kronos was drawn to Luke because of his strong spirit. He has a need to be in control of the situation, and is a very skilled fighter. When the other campers looked up to him, he felt a sense of pride and power; which he liked.
Unfortunately, Luke's weak point is his anger. He's quick to fire up his temper over something that could've gone differently; a better way. There's also his tendency to hold a strong grudge. There's this tendency he has of cutting people off when they start to question about his past. He seems to get edgy and a bit grumpy whenever his past is brought up, or guilty if you watch close enough.

HISTORY: In the early months of 1986, Luke was born to May Castellan and Hermes, the god of thieves. When Luke was the age of nine, he ran away from his home in Connecticut. This was because of his mother's unstable mental issues, which Hades brought upon the Oracle, who May had tried to become. The curse caused May's eyes to fail her like her family had. Later in life, this would be the moment that Luke envisioned to tie him to his human life while bathing in the River Styx. While he was on his own, he ran into Thalia Grace and Annabeth Chase at the age of fourteen, and the three fought for their survival and attempted to avoid Monsters. There was a moment when a monster injured Thalia, and since he and Annabeth wanted to rest, he took them to his mother's house to relax and heal up. It was then that Luke met his father, Hermes, for the first and only time. His anger flared up towards his father instantly, and he had demanded to know why Hermes had never showed up despite the fact that Luke prayed to him. Hermes indirectly let out that he was aware of Luke's fate, and when Luke aked eagerly, the god refused to inform him. This caused Luke to snap, and claim that his father couldn't possibly love him if he wouldn't tell him, and immediately left in a rage with Thalia and Annabeth.
From that moment on, Luke acted like he had something to prove. Due to his recklessness, they got into more battles with monsters, which led to them running into the Hunters. The group asked Thalia to join them, and she refused due to her not wanting to leave Luke. Eventually, the three met up with Grover. While making their way to Camp Half-Blood, they were followed by Hades' monsters. They managed to reach the border, but Thalia took it upon herself to make a sacrifice so that Luke and the others could get into camp without being killed. Thankfully, Zeus had taken pity on Thalia and turned her into a pine tree. It was from this point on that Luke stayed at camp all year round, while slowly descending into darkness. The anger he held towards his father, along with the guilt he felt about Thalia kept circling his mind, only helping the darkness in him grow.
When Luke was around seventeen, his father offered him a quest: to venture to the Garden of Hesperides and retrieve a Golden Apple. At first, Luke was thrilled and completely honored by the offer, though over time he questioned it, seeing as it had been done before by Hercules. Despite this, he went on this journey. However, he failed and ended up scarred by the dragon that guarded the tree, Ladon. He was able to injure the dragon, and steal a claw; which he has kept in the attic of the Big House. Returning to camp, he found himself treated with pity by the other campers. This sparked his grudge against Olympus and Hermes, who Luke felt didn't love him at all. His want to tear Olympus down stone by stone grew with every dark day. Over time, he began to have dreams of Kronos, who began to contact him in his sleep. Though this contact, Kronos convinced Luke to join his cause out of his desire for revenge. Kronos assigned him with the task of stealing the Master Bolt, and the Helm of Darkness in order to start a war between the Olympians.
He made his move on the camp's field trip to Mount Olympus. He entered the throne room while the other campers and counselors were asleep, and was able to steal both the Bolt and Helm, simply because the Olympians were caught off guard due to their arrogance. Later, they discovered the theft and went to search for the person responsible. Unfortunately, it was Ares that found – and fought Luke. He claims that he would have defeated the god, had he not underestimated his opponent. Luke was able to save himself by speaking what Kronos had told; if the Master Bolt was successfully stolen, there would be a full-scale war. Ares, who was awed, decided to spare him, but took the Bolt and Helm back with him. Luke luckily made it back before anyone noticed his absence, but Kronos began to punish Luke in the form of nightmares. This was when he swore never to fail the Titan again, and would be the reason Luke feared him later in life.
Around the age of nineteen, Luke was informed by Kronos through a dream that another camper would be arriving at Camp Half-Blood. This camper would unknowingly take the stolen items down to Tartarus, therefore causing the war. Remembering this, Luke was able to find the mentioned camper – a twelve year old named Percy Jackson. He earns Percy's trust and befriends the boy, starting by welcoming him to the Hermes cabin since Percy was unclaimed. Luke personally trained him in sword combat, and makes sure that he had the moral support a newcomer usually needs. After a game of Capture the Flag, Luke was responsible for summoning a hellhound that attacked Percy. This was an attempt to make Chiron believe that camp wasn't safe for Percy. Chiron, who was unaware of Luke's betrayal, sends Percy off on a mission to retrieve the Master Bolt to prevent a war.
The monsters of Hades were unusually active, and since it was unknown that the Helm of Darkness was also stolen, it was believed that Hades was in possession of the Master Bolt. Luke manages to give Percy a pair of winged shoes as a gift, which were planned to drag him down to Tartarus – along with the Master Bolt – when he neared the place during his journey. However, this plan failed when the winged shoes were given to Grover due to the fact that Percy couldn't fly since Zeus did not like Percy. Percy succeeded in returning the bolt to Zeus, which snagged Kronos' plan. Luke took Percy in the woods to 'look for something to fight' so that he could prevent the boy from interfering again. While the two talked, Luke explained his weapon to Percy; Backbiter, which is able to kill both monsters and mortals. He then summoned a scorpion which would later fail to poison the boy. Luke shares his bitterness and need for revenge, as well as revealing his allegiance to Kronos, claiming there will be a new 'Golden Age' that Percy will not be a part of, and then teleported away. His betrayal was a shock to many of those residing at camp, especially to Annabeth. She admitted that Luke had been acting differently since his failed quest, and eventually admitted that Luke was, indeed, a traitor.
A year after this betrayal, Luke had taken control of a monster cruise ship, which served as his headquarters. With the help of a spy in the camp's rank, Luke was able to poison Thalia's tree, which would render Camp Half-Blood defenseless. The plan was to “allow” Percy and Annabeth to retrieve the Golden Fleece and heal Thalia's tree, which would result in Thalia coming back to life. Luke also manages to frame Chiron for the poisoning, which gets him fired and has Tantalus replace him. Hermes convinced Percy and his friends to go on this quest, and told them to go onto the cruise ship. Hermes hoped that Percy would run into Luke, and convince him to stop his planned revenge on the gods. When Percy's group board the ship, they were captured due to lack of knowing its true purpose. Luke told them his plans to use the Golden Fleece to complete Kronos' resurrection, and attempted to recruit Percy and Annabeth during this time. He didn't want to recruit Tyson, for the simple reason that he reminded Luke of the cyclops that captured Thalia and himself years ago.
When the two refused Luke, he ordered his bodyguards to feed the three of them to a Drakon. After they manage to escape, Luke intercepts them when they're looking for an escape boat. While interrogating Percy for the Fleece, Percy used the pool to send an Iris Message, tricking Luke into spilling his framing of Chiron. Luke was then convinced to duel Percy; something the two have them had been waiting for a long time. Despite the fact that Percy has gained power due to the water, Luke easily defeats him. He's prevented from killing the boy, though, since he was knocked into the pool by an arriving Chiron and the other centaurs. When Percy manages to escape, it only makes Luke's hatred for him grow that much more. Percy ended up resurrecting Thalia with the Golden Fleece, given to him by Luke who was done using it to resurrect Kronos.
After Thalia's resurrection, Luke was assigned to assist Atlas in capturing the Ophiotaurus. However, since Thalia and Luke were childhood friends, Luke hesitates to carry this mission out, since the plan was the make Thalia the killer of the Ophiotaurus. Perfectly aware of this fact, Kronos informs Luke that he will be chosen as Kronos' host and suffer a worse fate than death if he does not succeed in this mission. In a plan to trick Annabeth, Luke carries the sky which earns him his grey streak. Annabeth, who was captured, fall for this trick, only to be relieved of the duty when the captured Artemis is forced to hold the sky instead. Luke was quite happy that Annabeth survived, but convinces Atlas to refrain from killing her – at least until the Winter Solstice. Later on, Luke runs into Percy, Thalia and Zoë when they arrive at the fortress to retrieve Artemis and Annabeth. When Luke refuses to kill Thalia, he tries to convince her to join their side. She refuses, and the two enter a duel. Both their power that was demonstrated is incredible, but Thalia wins the duel when she disarms and injures Luke and corners him against the edge of a cliff. It was then that Luke taunted Thalia, but Annabeth begs to spare him, causing the two girls to argue. While they do so, Luke attempted to disarm Thalia, which caused her to instinctively kick him off the cliff.
Not long after this battle, which Luke survived, he meets Annabeth under a flag of truce. He starts to beg her to run away with him, since the thought of becoming Kronos' vessel was becoming too much for him to handle. Annabeth refuses him, which causes Hermes to blame her for Luke's fate. Luke is hurt by this, and learned the hard way that he cannot trust his friends. After this meeting, he continues to serve Kronos and prepares to become that which he is unsure he can handle; the vessel. He made an attempt to talk with Annabeth again at Anteus' arena, but fails when they manage to escape. When Luke meets Percy next, he is possessed by Kronos, and attacks the boy. He was only stopped by the combined efforts of Rachel and Nico.
Kronos continues to use Luke's body as his vessel during the upcoming war, though there were a few moments when Luke obtained control. When Kronos obtains full power inside Luke's body, he will burn through it and attain his true immortal form; Percy learns this through the few moments of wavering control. While making his way to the throne room of the gods with Ethan, Kronos destroys the city of Mount Olympus. When Percy and the others catch up, Kronos enters a battle with them. During the fight, Annabeth was able to catch Luke's attention, but only partially reawakening him. Ethan, who ends up betraying Kronos, attacked him unsuccessfully when his sword shattered against Luke's invulnerable body. While Luke and Kronos have another internal struggle, Kronos opens the floor beneath Ethan to cause him to tumble to his death. Kronos kept battling the trio, getting ever so close to his original form.
It was because of Annabeth that Luke was able to take over his own mind. He allowed Percy to knock Backbiter into the hearth, which left him defenseless. When Annabeth gives Percy her knife, they realize that Luke is the true hero of the prophecy. The knife then gets passed to Luke, who stabs himself in his Achilles heel; close to the underarm of his left arm. After the fading screams of Kronos, Luke is left dying on the floor. After some conversation, he manages to ask Annabeth if she ever loved him. He gets a heartbreaking reply from Annabeth, informing him she only loved him as a brother. Luke turned his attention to Percy, pleading to the boy to never let this happen again, and then he passes on. What seemed like an eternity passed spent in the Fields of Asphodel, someone approached him; a presence he never thought he'd see. Nico di Angelo had found him in the after life, with an offer to live once more. There was a girl with him who he would later learn to be Hazel, and though Luke should have asked if there were strings attached, he jumped at the chance without a word.
Nico explained everything to Hazel, about Luke, and he was surprised to see how much a young kid would know. Nico also went on to inform Luke that he would be starting over at the camp Hazel would be heading to. Apparently this whole time there had been a whole other camp filled with demi-gods that none of the greeks had known about; the Romans. Luke soon discovered that not only had the two camps been enemies, but they also ran things very differently. After taking in all new rules, and ways of camp, added on to the fact that he was once again living, Luke was glad to be able to rest for a while. For the next while, he spent his time getting used to the camp and campers, as well as making his place here. Things seemed to be going pretty normally for him, which was a change, until one day. It was always one day, one single day that uprooted things. There were whispers across the camp about a Greek, and he briefly feared that maybe they had found out about his past. However, these fears were soon put to stop when he figured out who had actually turned up.
None other than Percy Jackson, as well as Hazel's brother, once again. Percy didn't seem to recognize Luke, or he just never got the change to truly see him; he got the true story later on from Nico. Not much time passed before he was off on a quest with Frank – who had been claimed after a game – and Hazel, who he'd come to care for as a sister. Luke tried to put the water boy's appearance out of his mind while he helped the Camp prepare for the upcoming battle. Four days later, the battle raged on against a giant and his army. The quest trio had returned with others, including Tyson, which only showed that Percy was back to his normal self. When the battle had been won, Luke was quick to make himself disappear. He couldn't chance being seen by the other demi-god. It wasn't until later, when there was a commotion about a warship carrying Greek demi-gods, that he knew his new found peace was over.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:
note: the red is the voice in luke's head – from a different site
For one, short, blissful moment, Luke's mind was in the past. The remark Thalia made, the way she said it, it seemed to spark all these memories. It was almost as if he had purposely forgot them; pushed them aside so they wouldn't distract him when he was with Kronos. Everything had been so simple then. Though it seemed like the end of the world to them. Wake up, eat, travel while trying to survive, keep guard at night in between sleep. Rinse and repeat. Littered with moments of conversations and memories that would never happen again this day. He had relaxed for such a small time, one blink and it was gone. Remembering this only made him realize how badly he had messed things up. Luke blamed himself for a lot of things, but he blamed himself for this the most. Yes his revenge had been important to him, since his anger usually got the better of him, but looking back on it now.. He wouldn't change a thing. If he did, if he hadn't given into Kronos, Thalia would still be a tree. One simple thing, and it made a world of a difference to him.
Focusing back on what she had said, his mind settled back on the fact that he had lost out on time. Hades, he had even missed out on a birthday. It was nearly a year that he had remained dead. Yet to him it had only felt like five minutes. Time perception was a funny thing to a dead person; he still had troubles accepting the fact that he was dead some days. He would have been stuck lost in thought until Thalia's pause caught his attention. Luke's gaze snapped back up to her as she continued to speak, eying her carefully. She didn't – She sees right through you kid, and how can she not? You make it fairly obvious that there's something wrong.
“What do you want from me, Thalia?” He exclaimed, with his arms extended out to the side. “Do you want me to just go around acting like I didn't just come back from the dead? Or that I didn't lose so many months, that'd be nice too. It's hard enough that I have every other person staring at me every time I pass by like there's something horrifically wrong with me, but for you to doubt me as well? I'm fine as I can possibly be in this situation, with everyone judging me and ready to try and beat me down for my past decisions. Not to mention -” Luke stopped himself, and scoffed at his own stupidity. Off your rocker, I'm just saying. Thalia was just worried, she didn't need this at all. “I don't mean... This can't be easy for you, either, I know that.” A sigh left his lips. “I just wish I knew what was going on.” That was as close as he was going to get to admitting there was something he wasn't letting on to. Then again, it was Thalia. She was already seeing through him. Luke would just have to get better at hiding the other habitant of his mind. It's not going to be that easy, I'll be sure of it. He was aware of the fact already, but this voice seemed to love taunting him. Luke just hoped he would manage to keep himself from making any more grave mistakes.
